Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA), commonly known as Central Business District (CBD Punjab), began the construction of Kalma Chowk remodeling and CBD Punjab Boulevard this month. During this massive project’s construction, the government ensured that the public was relieved and safe.
According to a press release from CBD Punjab, minor traffic congestion is observed during peak hours, but there are no complete jams reported, which is evidence of the thoroughness of the authority’s traffic diversion and construction plan.
The authority uses several platforms to provide maximum information for daily commuters regarding road blockades to avoid any inconvenience.
To guarantee smooth and consistent traffic flow, CBD Punjab collaborates with City Traffic Police (CTP) Lahore.
Moreover, several traffic wardens are posted at Kalma Chowk and adjacent routes, and the authority has also put up directional and diversion signboards for the benefit of everyday commuters. CTP is also airing hourly traffic reports on Rasta FM 89.
In the announcement, Riaz Hussain, Executive Director of Technical PCBDDA, mentioned, “this is a massive scale project, and we are working for its timely completion. We are giving our best to avoid any inconvenience for the residents of Lahore. I would like to request the people for their support as this project is for their benefit”.
He added that pile work on Ali Zeb Road has also begun, and pile work from Saint Mary Park to Center Point is almost finished.
The road connecting Saint Mary and Center Point is currently closed to traffic. Traffic going from Ferozepur Road in the direction of Liberty is either rerouted through Gaddafi Stadium or the Kalma Chowk Underpass in the direction of Liberty Market.
While traffic coming from Barkat Market and heading towards Ali Zaib Road uses Kalma Chowk Underpass and is diverted from UCH U-turn, traffic arriving from Liberty Market and heading towards Ali Zaib Road can utilize Main Boulevard.
However, Ali Zaib Road has been partially closed by the authorities while the service lane and the other side of the road remain open for the convenience of the public. In 180 days, the PKR4.2 billion project will be finished.
