Lahore To Become A New Metropolitan Hub Through Ruda’s Twin City Concept

Syed Ali Azfar Nasir, Punjab’s Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Minister, recently visited the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) office to check on the status of ongoing projects. The minister was briefed on RUDA’s activities to promote environmental sustainability and urban regeneration in Lahore, according to the details. 


During his visit, the minister praised the RUDA initiatives, describing them as a “twin city concept” that will revitalise Lahore’s socioeconomic and cultural features, transforming it into a new metropolitan hub. 


The minister was further briefed by RUDA officials on numerous ongoing projects, including the construction of three barrages, seven wastewater treatment facilities, and river training works to strengthen the city’s infrastructure. 


Moreover, the minister was informed about RUDA’s planned projects, including Chaharbagh, Sapphire Bay,?and Entertainment City. 


The officials also talked about Central Business District (CBD) projects like upgrading Walton Road, creating service corridors, remodelling Kalma Chowk, and installing water harvesting wells. 


He was informed that commercial projects such as Grand Souk would be constructed on the property of Camp Jail and Rescue 1122 on Ferozepur Road. Officials from RUDA stated that they are committed to supporting sustainable development through their programmes. 


According to the sources, the project, which will be located in a prime position in the city, intends to conserve Lahore’s cultural legacy and has enormous tourism potential. The neighbourhood will host a number of exhibitions, events,?and conferences, which will add to the allure of?Entertainment City.
