In the wake of the results of the general elections being rigged, Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaqat Ali announced his resignation.

According to the Commissioner, on the evening of January 8, he acknowledged that he had falsified the results of the general elections to give 13 candidates who were trailing by 50,000 votes the advantage.

Amid electoral irregularities, Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chattha resigned from his position on Saturday and made the decision to turn himself in to the police.

At a press conference held at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta said he had treated the Rawalpindi Division unfairly.

Commissioner Rawalpindi went on to say that they have turned the losing candidates into a 50,000 lead and have stabbed the nation in the back, which keeps him up at night.

Additionally, he disclosed that he considered suicide due to pressure from Pakistanis living abroad and social media, but ultimately chose to present the truth to everyone.

Liaquat Ali Chatta went on to say that Rawalpindi Kachhari Chowk should be the site of his hanging. He continued, “I should be punished along with the Chief Election Commissioner and others responsible.”

Adding to his earlier statement, he said that after informing the Returning Officers (ROs) of election tampering, they were unwilling to conduct this.

The Returning Officers working under me were apologised to by Commissioner Rawalpindi, who expressed his regret that they had participated in this transgression. He informed them they had to do this, and they sobbed and pleaded that they did not want to work for him.
