Electric bikes are gaining popularity in Pakistan despite rising inflation and fuel prices. New businesses are also attempting to diversify and capitalise on the rising demand.

ZYP Technologies, a startup, recently went viral on social media. According to its official website, the business is currently working on a new electric bike. This bike, dubbed Magvus, is Pakistan’s first EV with a swappable battery.

According to the pictures shared on the media, Magvus is based on the Road Prince Wego, a popular Chinese 150cc motorcycle. The bike includes the following attributes:

  • IP67 Waterproof motor

  • Lithium Battery designed to serve 5+ years

  • 120km economy mode range

  • 100km/h top speed

  • 0-60km/h in 6 seconds

In addition, the company is focused on constructing battery exchange stations. According to reports, these stations can replace a battery in under two minutes. This concept, a ‘fuel station’ for bikes, has long been used in India and other nations.

Magvus‘ release date and price are still unknown. Nonetheless, with the bike practically ready for manufacturing, it will be released soon.

Moreover, ezBike, Pakistan’s first electric scooter-sharing service, was launched last year by Mohammad Hadi, a former investment banker, and Ali Moeen, a software executive. The firm claims to have over 100,000 users who can hire an ezBike stationed around Islamabad since its beginning.

Users locate the bikes using the ezBike app, and reserve and use the electric scooters on their own.
