An electric bus with zero smoke emissions has started moving on Lahore highways as a test project, even if this action would not lead to an observable improvement in the polluted air of Lahore overnight. The bus travels twice a day from Valencia Town to the main station of the Punjab Transport Company (PTC).

According to Malik Zaheer Abbas, he holds the distinction of being the first teacher in Lahore to help with the operation of an electric bus. He told the reporters on Wednesday, the bus trial run has been underway in Lahore for about a month, and it’s working wonderfully.

“ItÂ’s excellent because itÂ’s both environmentally friendly and safe for drivers and passengers. IÂ’ve driven both manual and hybrid buses in my occupational career. It feels good when a driver can sleep at night without thinking about maintenance issues. Only e-buses provide this convenience.”

The Sindh government established an electric bus fleet as a test run, following the Punjab government in doing so. Sharjeel Inam Memon, the minister of Sindh’s information and transportation, announced through Twitter that a new bus service will soon begin in Karachi. “These are the first entirely environmentally friendly electrical automobiles in Pakistan. We will begin the test drive throughout the city on November 7th.

In cooperation with BYD China, the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles in the world, the Sapphire group in Pakistan has launched the programme in Lahore.?In the past, the same bus travelled on test runs in Islamabad. Pakistan would benefit from this in terms of expanding its market and producing electric automobiles (EVs).

According to PTC acting CEO Abdul Qayyum, the PTC and a private consultant had both thoroughly analyzed the data gathered during the test run since the PTC intended to introduce e-buses throughout Lahore in accordance with the expert’s recommendations. We should keep in mind that by 2030, electric vehicles will be the norm on the road.
