In 2025, Pakistan’s first “indigenous” electric car manufacturer, Jaxeri Automotive (Pvt.) Ltd., intends to introduce a compact SUV that is entirely electric.

The chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Muhammad Najeeb Haroon, recently paid a visit to the automaker’s regional Research and Development (R&D) centre, according to a recent update from Automark Magazine.

The corporation informed the PEC chairperson of the advances in the auto manufacturing sector during the meeting. Additionally, it updated the chairman on the development of a tiny SUV that is entirely electric.

The local design and production of the SUV was also mentioned by corporate representatives. They stated that the current launch date for the SUV in Pakistan is 2025.

Background:

On August 14, 2022, Jaxeri also unveiled a prototype of its electric hatchback, the Nur-E 75.

The DICE Foundation, an NGO with US headquarters and Pakistani management, created the prototype. The little EV was designed to compete in the market for affordable vehicles.

With a top speed of 127 km/hr, Nur-E’s single electric motor has 107 HP and 200 Nm of torque. It has a 35 KWh battery, which the manufacturer says will provide a 200KM range. The rapid charge takes only two hours as opposed to the typical charge’s seven to eight hours.

The commercial manufacturing of the Nur-E 75 will begin around Q4 of 2024, with about 60% of its parts being made domestically, the Chairman of the DICE Foundation stated to the media last year. However, considering Pakistan’s economic situation at that time, car prices will surge even more.
