Several policies were approved during the sixth meeting of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) board on Monday. Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal chaired the meeting. One policy approved was the requirement that each house in the city must have a rainwater harvesting tank and a small well for recharging groundwater.

The board decided that no building map would be approved unless there was a water recharging well and tank present. Another approved policy was for renting out plots to private schools on a 33-year lease.

The board will finalize its financial model later. Plots will be rented out according to a 100 marks formula, with 20% marks allotted for schools operating in houses and 25% for schools charging Rs5,000 to Rs15,000 fees. Private schools will be required not to increase fees by more than 5% per year.

The board also approved giving authority to the Sanitation Directorate and the Environment Wing to impose fines and other punishments on violators.

The board also approved the construction of a football ground in Kuri, as well as the establishment of the Building and Housing Control Wing. This will help prevent illegal constructions and enforce building by-laws, with 50 field staff teams performing duties in the building control wing.

In addition, the board approved building by-laws for construction along IJP and Murree roads, with the ratio of mauve area to floor area increased from 3,000 yards to 15,000 yards. The floor area ratio for H-series sector institutional buildings was also increased.

Lastly, the board decided to resume work on the cultural complex which has been stalled since 2010. The renaming of the cultural complex Shakarparian to Al-Hamra Islamabad was also approved, as well as the change of name for the ladies club in G-10 to Citizen Centre G-10.
