For the forthcoming fiscal year (FY 2023-24), the Capital Development Authority (CDA) intends to begin major development projects in Islamabad as it has planned numerous new underpasses and flyovers in Islamabad, for which it has budgeted PKR 20 billion.

The construction of 11th Avenue,?Shaheen Chowk Overpass, and Serena Chowk Underpass, as well as the extension of Lahtrar Road, Park Road, and Murree Road, are among these projects.

The sources reported that city managers are actively involved in current reconstruction initiatives totalling PKR 100 billion throughout the city. These initiatives, according to CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal, are expected to be finished within the next two to three months.

Mengal further stated that 11th Avenue will be connected to the Srinagar Highway and IJP Road and that the patchwork on the Islamabad Motorway will be done soon.

Moreover, the CDA chief shared his objectives to make the route from Serena Chowk to Kashmir and Murree signal-free in an effort to reduce traffic congestion.

Furthermore, the CDA intends to eliminate traffic signals on Margalla Road. The construction of a dual highway across Shaheen Chowk is one of the upcoming projects.

Additionally, during FY 2023-24, Park Road and Lahtrar Road will be expanded with extra lanes.

With the deployment of significant funding and the construction of these numerous new underpasses and flyovers in Islamabad, the CDA hopes to strengthen the city’s infrastructure and traffic management system, providing smoother transportation and increased connectivity throughout the city.

Meanwhile, the federal government has announced that the CDA?will get PKR 1.4 billion for the 10th Avenue project.
