The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have made the decision to double the penalty for traffic infractions. The highway police are now launching an information campaign on several platforms, including social media, in preparation for the implementation of new fines on October 1, 2023.

In an effort to reduce traffic offences on the highways, authorities decided to adjust the fine rates during a meeting of the NHMP.

– Increase In Toll Tax:

Under a 20-year deal between the National Highway Authority (NHA) and MS/More, a division of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), the toll on the Lahore-Islamabad (M2) motorway was hiked by 10% last month. In 2014, the NHA agreed to carry out the “overlay 86 modernization of Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2)” on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.

The new regulations and scales for traffic penalties were stated in a statement by the NHMP:

* In all of the nation’s traffic laws, the police have added seven new regulations.

The overspeeding fine has been raised from Rs. 750 to Rs. 2500.

Instead of the prior Rs. 300 fine, the new fine for a wrong overtaking is Rs.300

* The old challan of Rs. 500 has been replaced with a fine of Rs. 5,000 for vehicles with damaged and malfunctioning headlights.

* The revised challan fee for reckless driving is Rs. 1500 as opposed to Rs. 300.

* The penalties for driving without a licence has increased from Rs. 750 to Rs. 5,000.

* The fine for expensive licence plates will be Rs. 1,000, and the fine for HID lights will be Rs.

The penalties for operating a vehicle without a valid registration is now Rs. 2,000 instead of Rs. 500.
