The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has demolished three additional booking offices under the directives of Director General (DG) Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa to expedite its current campaign against unlawful housing plans.

The two sub-division offices of Tarahia Gorakhpur Road and Capital Flora Valley at Thatha Gorakhpur Road were destroyed, an RDA spokeswoman said.

Per his claims, the owners of the illegal housing schemes were taking reservations in defiance of the Punjab Private Housing Scheme Rules 2021. The spokeswoman said that, on the DG’s instructions, the RDA’s planning division had also begun taking legal action against unlawful marketing and promoting illegal housing complexes.

He continued by saying that the owners of the schemes had also received notifications from the administration.

He said that First Information Reports (FIRs) had been filed against the owners and promoters of these schemes because they were misrepresenting the public.

Moreover, the proprietors and sponsors of these three fraudulent schemes had also filed FIRs, and they were misleading the public with shady advertisements.

In this regard, the RDA’s planning division has also requested the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing to file a lawsuit against illegal and deceptive advertisements for the schemes, he continued.

The DG has advised the public to examine the status of the housing plans on RDA’s official website RDA.gop.pk before making any investments, the spokesman claims, to prevent falling into a potential trap.

Earlier, the Service Road, Adiala Road, and High Court Road unlawful buildings were dismantled and sealed by RDA with the assistance of the police.

Sources reported that after seeing unlawful constructions in City Villas along the Nullah Leh Expressway, RDA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa also issued a show-cause notice to Building Inspector Muhammad Bilal. This was done due to Bilal’s inefficiency and failure in his task.

The DG RDA has stated that they do not wish to harass the public and has cautioned investors and the public not to invest their hard-earned money in illegal housing societies without obtaining RDA map clearance.
