The National Highway Authority intends to construct an interchange on the Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway, near Esaan, Sharaqpur in the Sheikhupura area (M-3).

Following the granting of the contract, the firm would begin working on the feasibility study and detailed design of the proposed interchange for which the NHA had recently requested bids.

An official of NHA told the media that the construction of the interchange was a long-standing demand of the locals because it would aid in the growth of the surrounding districts.

The M-3 is a north-south highway that connects Abdul Hakeem and Lahore.

Faisalabad-Multan Motorway and M-3 Motorway are parallel.

Meanwhile, the National Highway Authority (NHA) is not permitted to collect toll fees from users travelling between Sukkur and Moro, according to the Sindh High Court (SHC).

In response to NHA employees’ laxity in repairing the national highway that was wrecked by the monsoon floods in Sindh, Justice Zafar Rajput has issued a severe warning.

The places impacted by the floods included Sehwan Sharif, Khairpur, Ranipur, and Moro. People in these places are dying as a result of the poor roadways, according to Justice Rajput. Justice Rajput spoke to the NHA representatives and said:

“People are still suffering the devastating aftermath of the floods due to the destroyed road network. How can you collect toll taxes from them?”

Until the road is fixed, Justice Rajput instructed NHA to stop collecting toll taxes from travellers between Sukkur and Moro.

Moreover, the Standing Committee on Communications requested in September that NHA cease toll revenue collection on highways damaged by recent countrywide flooding.

The committee members questioned NHA’s choice to keep levying toll fees on these highways.
