In order to lessen traffic in Punjab’s bustling capital, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the municipal government to act against illegal parking immediately.

Hearing on the petition against illegal parking locations was Justice Shahid Karim. During the hearing on the plea, the LHC pushed for the immediate sealing of restaurants without parking.

In order to prevent improper parking on crucial road service lines, Justice Karim emphasised the necessity for the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to issue clear instructions.

In addition, the court emphasised the need to preserve the city’s green areas despite increased development activity. It also emphasised the need to prevent old trees from collapsing or being chopped down.

The LHC voiced worry about persistent lawbreaking in Lahore. Additionally, it requested hearing implementation reports from the pertinent government departments and authorities.

To increase road safety, the LHC earlier last week mandated a Rs. 5,000 fine for motorcycle riders without helmets. According to reports, the authorities’ unsatisfactory performance led to the court getting involved.

The court would issue a formal order to enforce these rules, according to Justice Karim. The traffic wardens were also criticised by him for not carrying out their responsibilities effectively.

The severity of legal action against traffic violators is increasing in Lahore. Citizens should be on guard in light of this.
