Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf is supporting the PK-17 candidate. The returning officer and assistant commissioner of Samarbagh, Numan Pervez, declared Ubaidur Rehman the victor after a recount of votes on Sunday.

Updated results were provided by the RO, indicating that Ubaidur Rehman of the PTI had won with 23,229 votes, surpassing Izazul Mulk of Jamaat-i-Islami, who received 19,990 votes. Prior to this, Izazul Mulk was declared the winner in the PK-17 constituency by the RO using his Form-47; he received 25,124 votes against Ubaidur Rehman’s 22,981 votes.

Ubaidur Rehman has challenged the results and demanded a Form-45 investigation and a recount of the votes cast at 10 distinct polling locations. Form-49, which identified Ubaidur Rehman as the winner and Izazul Mulk as the runner-up, was released by the RO in another statement.

In the meantime, the recounting was taking place in front of the Timergara rest house, where Jamaat-i-Islami announced that it would end its sit-in protest. Employees of JI surrounding the site opposed to a vote recount two days in a row without their nominee or his agent present.

Numerous rounds of negotiations were held between the district administration and the leaders of the JI protesting workers, but to no avail. The demonstration was called off after JI provincial leaders intervened and persuaded the striking employees to end their sit-in.

Izazul Mulk, addressing the protesters, asserted that the recounts were conducted under pressure and without his agreement. He continued by saying that JI would never permit that to happen and that his mandate had been changed. However, after intervention by JI regional leaders, the rally was called off. Following their victory, PTI workers celebrated in several locations of Jandol.
