حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَحُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، أَنَّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حدثهم، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا ذَكَرَتِ النَّارَ، فَبَكَتْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَا يُبْكِيكِ ؟، قَالَتْ: ذَكَرْتُ النَّارَ، فَبَكَيْتُ، فَهَلْ تَذْكُرُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ؟، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَمَّا فِي ثَلَاثَةِ مَوَاطِنَ، فَلَا يَذْكُرُ أَحَدٌ أَحَدًا عِنْدَ الْمِيزَانِ، حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَيَخِفُّ مِيزَانُهُ أَوْ يَثْقُلُ، وَعِنْدَ الْكِتَابِ حِينَ يُقَالُ: هَاؤُمُ اقْرَءُوا كِتَابِيَهْ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَيْنَ يَقَعُ كِتَابُهُ، أَفِي يَمِينِهِ، أَمْ فِي شِمَالِهِ، أَمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِهِ ؟ وَعِنْدَ الصِّرَاطِ إِذَا وُضِعَ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَيْ جَهَنَّمَ ، قَالَ يَعْقُوبُ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، وَهَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِهِ.
حسن بصری کہتے ہیں کہ ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے جہنم کا ذکر کیا تو رونے لگیں، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم کیوں روتی ہو؟ ، وہ بولیں: مجھے جہنم یاد آ گئی تو رونے لگی، کیا آپ قیامت کے دن اپنے گھر والوں کو یاد کریں گے؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تین جگہوں پر تو وہاں کوئی کسی کو یاد نہیں کرے گا: ایک میزان کے پاس یہاں تک کہ یہ معلوم ہو جائے کہ اس کا میزان ہلکا ہے یا بھاری ہے، دوسرے کتاب کے وقت جب کہا جائے گا: آؤ پڑھو اپنی اپنی کتاب یہاں تک کہ یہ معلوم ہو جائے کہ اس کی کتاب کس میں دی جائے گی آیا دائیں ہاتھ میں یا بائیں ہاتھ میں، یا پھر پیٹھ کے پیچھے سے اور تیسرے پل صراط کے پاس جب وہ جہنم پر رکھا جائے گا ۔ یعقوب نے «عن يونس» کے الفاظ سے روایت کی اور یہ حدیث اسی کے الفاظ میں ہے۔
Aishah said that she thought of Hell and wept. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم asked her: What makes you weep ? She replied: I thought of Hell and wept. Will you remember your family on the 4th Day of resurrection ? the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: There are three places where no one will remember anyone: at the scale until one knows whether his weight is light or heavy; at (the examination of) the book when one is commanded: Take and read Allah’s record, until he knows whether his book will be put into his right hand, or into his left hand, or behind his back ; and the path when it is placed across JAHANNAM.

Abdullah bin Ka;b bin Malik who used to lead his father from among his sons when he became blind, said: I heard Kaab bin Malik say: The transmitter Ibn al-sarh then narrated the story of his remaining behind from the prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade the Muslims to speak to any of us three. When ( in this state) abundant time passed on me, I ascended the wall of the garden of Abu Qatadah who was my cousin. I saluted him, but, I swear by Allah, he did not return salute to me. He then narrated the story of the revelation of the Quranic verses relating to his repentance.
