حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَعَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَغَرِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنّ النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: يَنْزِلُ رَبُّنَا عز وجل كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ إِلَى سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا، حَتَّى يَبْقَى ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الْآخِرُ، فَيَقُولُ: مَنْ يَدْعُونِي فَأَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ ؟ مَنْ يَسْأَلُنِي فَأُعْطِيَهُ ؟ مَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ ؟ .
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہمارا رب ہر رات آسمان دنیا پر اترتا ہے، جب رات کا آخری تہائی حصہ باقی رہ جاتا ہے اور کہتا ہے: کون ہے جو مجھے پکارے، میں اس کی پکار کو قبول کروں؟ کون ہے جو مجھ سے مانگے میں اسے دوں؟ کون ہے جو مجھ سے مغفرت طلب کرے میں اسے معاف کر دوں ۱؎ ۔
Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم as saying; Our lord gets down every night to the heaven of this world when a third night remains and says: (Is there anyone) who prays to Me so that I may accept his prayer? (Is there anyone) who asks of Me so that I may give him? (Is there anyone) who asks for my forgiveness so that I may forgive him?

Abdullah bin Ka;b bin Malik who used to lead his father from among his sons when he became blind, said: I heard Kaab bin Malik say: The transmitter Ibn al-sarh then narrated the story of his remaining behind from the prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade the Muslims to speak to any of us three. When ( in this state) abundant time passed on me, I ascended the wall of the garden of Abu Qatadah who was my cousin. I saluted him, but, I swear by Allah, he did not return salute to me. He then narrated the story of the revelation of the Quranic verses relating to his repentance.
