حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَحْمُودُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عِتْبَانَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : غَدَا عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : أَيْنَ مَالِكُ بْنُ الدُّخْشُنِ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : مِنَّا ذَلِكَ مُنَافِقٌ لَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَلَا تَقُولُوهُ يَقُولُ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، يَبْتَغِي بِذَلِكَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُوَافَى عَبْدٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِهِ إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ النَّارَ .

ہم سے عبدان نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو عبداللہ بن مبارک نے خبر دی، کہا ہم کو معمر نے خبر دی، انہیں زہری نے، انہیں محمود بن الربیع نے خبر دی، کہا کہ میں نے عتبان بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ   صبح کے وقت نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم میرے یہاں تشریف لائے پھر ایک صاحب نے پوچھا کہ مالک بن الدخشن کہاں ہیں؟ ہمارے قبیلہ کے ایک شخص نے جواب دیا کہ وہ منافق ہے، اللہ اور اس کے رسول سے اسے محبت نہیں ہے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس پر فرمایا کہ کیا تم ایسا نہیں سمجھتے کہ وہ کلمہ لا الہٰ الا اللہ کا اقرار کرتا ہے اور اس کا مقصد اس سے اللہ کی رضا ہے۔ اس صحابی نے کہا کہ ہاں یہ تو ہے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ پھر جو بندہ بھی قیامت کے دن اس کلمہ کو لے کر آئے گا، اللہ تعالیٰ اس پر جہنم کو حرام کر دے گا۔

Narrated `Itban bin Malik: Once Allah's Apostle came to me in the morning, and a man among us said, Where is Malik bin Ad- Dukhshun? Another man from us replied, He is a hypocrite who does not love Allah and His Apostle. The Prophet said, Don't you think that he says: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, only for Allah's sake? They replied, Yes The Prophet said, Nobody will meet Allah with that saying on the Day of Resurrection, but Allah will save him from the Fire.

Hadith 6918

Narrated `Abdullah: When the Verse: 'It is those who believe and confuse not their belief with wrong (i.e., worshipping others besides Allah): (6.82) was revealed, it became very hard on the companions of the Prophet and they said, Who among us has not confused his belief with wrong (oppression)? On that, Allah's Apostle said, This is not meant (by the Verse). Don't you listen to Luqman's statement: 'Verily! Joining others in worship with Allah is a great wrong indeed.' (31.13)

Narrated Abu Bakra: The Prophet. said, The biggest of the great sins are: To join others in worship with Allah, to be undutiful to one's parents, and to give a false witness. He repeated it thrice, or said, ....a false statement, and kept on repeating that warning till we wished he would stop saying it. (See Hadith No.7, Vol. 8)

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: A bedouin came to the Prophet and said, O Allah's Apostle! What are the biggest sins?: The Prophet said, To join others in worship with Allah. The bedouin said, What is next? The Prophet said, To be undutiful to one's parents. The bedouin said What is next? The Prophet said To take an oath 'Al-Ghamus. The bedouin said, What is an oath 'Al-Ghamus'? The Prophet said, The false oath through which one deprives a Muslim of his property (unjustly).

Narrated Ibn Mas`ud: A man said, O Allah's Apostle! Shall we be punished for what we did in the Prelslamic Period of ignorance? The Prophet said, Whoever does good in Islam will not be punished for what he did in the Pre-lslamic Period of ignorance and whoever does evil in Islam will be punished for his former and later (bad deeds).

Hadith 6922

Narrated `Ikrima: Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought to `Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn `Abbas who said, If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's Apostle forbade it, saying, 'Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire).' I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'
