حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ : الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوا إِيمَانَهُمْ بِظُلْمٍ سورة الأنعام آية 82 ، شَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالُوا : أَيُّنَا لَمْ يَلْبِسْ إِيمَانَهُ بِظُلْمٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِذَاكَ ، أَلَا تَسْمَعُونَ إِلَى قَوْلِ لُقْمَانَ : إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ سورة لقمان آية 13 .
ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم کو جریر بن عبدالحمید نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے اعمش سے، انہوں نے ابراہیم نخعی سے، انہوں نے علقمہ سے، انہوں نے عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ سے، انہوں نے کہا کہ جب ( سورۃ الانعام کی ) یہ آیت «الذين آمنوا ولم يلبسوا إيمانهم بظلم» اتری ”جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور انہوں نے ایمان کو گناہ سے آلود نہیں کیا ( یعنی ظلم سے ) “ تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے صحابہ کو بہت گراں گزری وہ کہنے لگے بھلا ہم میں سے کون ایسا ہے جس نے ایمان کے ساتھ کوئی ظلم ( یعنی گناہ ) نہ کیا ہو۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اس آیت میں ظلم سے گناہ مراد نہیں ہے ( بلکہ شرک مراد ہے ) کیا تم نے لقمان علیہ السلام کا قول نہیں سنا «إن الشرك لظلم عظيم» ”شرک بڑا ظلم ہے“۔
Narrated `Abdullah: When the Verse: 'It is those who believe and confuse not their belief with wrong (i.e., worshipping others besides Allah): (6.82) was revealed, it became very hard on the companions of the Prophet and they said, Who among us has not confused his belief with wrong (oppression)? On that, Allah's Apostle said, This is not meant (by the Verse). Don't you listen to Luqman's statement: 'Verily! Joining others in worship with Allah is a great wrong indeed.' (31.13)

Narrated `Ikrima: Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought to `Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn `Abbas who said, If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's Apostle forbade it, saying, 'Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire).' I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'
