حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، أَنَّ حَكِيمَ بْنَ حِزَامٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَعْتَقَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مِائَةَ رَقَبَةٍ وَحَمَلَ عَلَى مِائَةِ بَعِيرٍ ، فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَ حَمَلَ عَلَى مِائَةِ بَعِيرٍ ، وَأَعْتَقَ مِائَةَ رَقَبَةٍ ، قَالَ : فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرَأَيْتَ أَشْيَاءَ كُنْتُ أَصْنَعُهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، كُنْتُ أَتَحَنَّثُ بِهَا يَعْنِي أَتَبَرَّرُ بِهَا ؟ قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَسْلَمْتَ عَلَى مَا سَلَفَ لَكَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ .
ہم سے عبید بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ابواسامہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے ہشام نے، انہیں ان کے والد نے خبر دی کہ حکیم بن حزام رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنے کفر کے زمانے میں سو غلام آزاد کیے تھے اور سو اونٹ لوگوں کی سواری کے لیے دیے تھے۔ پھر جب اسلام لائے تو سو اونٹ لوگوں کی سواری کے لیے دیے اور سو غلام آزاد کیے۔ پھر انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا۔ یا رسول اللہ! بعض ان نیک اعمال کے متعلق آپ کا کیا خیال ہے جنہیں میں بہ نیت ثواب کفر کے زمانہ میں کیا کرتا تھا ( ہشام بن عروہ نے کہا کہ ) «أتحنث بها» کے معنی «أتبرر بها» کے ہیں ) انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس پر فرمایا ”جو نیکیاں تم پہلے کر چکے ہو وہ سب قائم رہیں گی۔“
Narrated Hisham: My father told me that Hakim bin Hizam manumitted one-hundred slaves in the Pre-Islamic period of ignorance and slaughtered one-hundred camels (and distributed them in charity). When he embraced Islam he again slaughtered one-hundred camels and manumitted one-hundred slaves. Hakim said, I asked Allah's Apostle, 'O Allah's Apostle! What do you think about some good deeds I used to practice in the Pre-Islamic period of ignorance regarding them as deeds of righteousness?' Allah's Apostle said, You have embraced Islam along with all those good deeds you did.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, Whoever frees a Muslim slave, Allah will save all the parts of his body from the (Hell) Fire as he has freed the body-parts of the slave. He said, Help the weak or do good for a person who cannot work for himself. I said, If I cannot do that? He said, Refrain from harming others for this will be regarded as a charitable deed for your own good.
