To facilitate the startups and non-profit organizations in Pakistan, Asia-Pacific and North America, US tech giant Google has decided to launch a circular economy startup accelerator.

According to the sources, the programme “Google for Startups Accelerator: Circular Economy” will choose organizations that make use of technology to solve circularity challenges including refill, reuse, recycling, composting, food, fashion, safe and circular materials, and the built environment.

Asia-Pacific, which is the world’s most vulnerable area to climate change’s impact, is a good starting point to innovate and produce circular economy solutions.

Sources said that the programme will support startups that will help create a circular economy that is sustainable, safer, and more equitable for everyone, which will reestablish a relationship with physical resources and solve circularity challenges.

Moreover, through the amalgamation of one-to-one and one-to-many learning sessions, the accelerator provides ten weeks of virtual programming that comprises technical assistance and mentoring from Google engineers and external experts.

Participants will be given a dedicated success manager for support that is specific to their organization.

It was reported that the applications for this programme are open from October 4, 2022, to November 14, 2022, and the programme will start in February 2023.

In this regard, Thye Yeow Bok, the Developer-Relations Program Manager at Google said, “Applications are now open for Google for Startups Accelerator: Southeast Asia. This year, we are also inviting startup entrepreneurs from Pakistan, particularly the ones who are resolving today’s socio-economic issues in key sectors like; healthcare, education, finance, or logistics.”

Bok was passionate regarding the potential and services that these South Asian startups will offer to humankind. He further stated in the announcement that “Use of Artificial-Intelligence, Machine-Learning or Data-Analysis is being encouraged, to enable smooth functioning of industries. This will make the world more inclusive, even for the elderly and people with disabilities.”
