The National Highway Authority (NHA) has once again revised the toll tax rates for the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2), as per an official notice. These new rates are scheduled to be in effect from August 25, 2023, to August 26, 2024.

The updated toll rates are categorized by vehicle type and the respective toll rate per kilometer, resulting in the following total amounts: Car/Jeep/Pickup at Rs. 3.07 per kilometer, totaling Rs. 1,100; Wagon at Rs. 5.15 per kilometer, totaling Rs. 1,840; Coaster at Rs. 7.22 per kilometer, totaling Rs. 2,590; Coach at Rs. 10.29 per kilometer, totaling Rs. 3,690; Truck at Rs. 13.39 per kilometer, totaling Rs. 4,800; and Trailer at Rs. 17.22 per kilometer, totaling Rs. 6,170.

Notably, the toll rate revisions come on the heels of the commencement of construction work on the Gujranwala Motorway Link Project, a significant development in the region. This project, with an estimated cost of Rs. 11 billion, aims to connect Gujranwala city with the motorway. Spanning 58.1 kilometers, the project encompasses the construction of a road stretch, including two flyovers, to establish connectivity between Gujranwala and an interchange near Mooramanabad.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gujranwala, Fayyaz Aslam, has affirmed that the motorway will remain operational during the construction period, and the project is expected to be completed swiftly within 90 days. This initiative is poised to transform Gujranwala’s connectivity, offering faster and more convenient access to various parts of the country, while also fostering economic growth and development in the region.

The adjustment of toll tax rates on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2) by the National Highway Authority reflects the ongoing efforts to manage and maintain the country’s vital transportation infrastructure.

These revisions are crucial for ensuring that the funding required for the maintenance and expansion of Pakistan’s road networks is met. Simultaneously, the initiation of the Gujranwala Motorway Link Project is a significant step toward enhancing regional connectivity and economic development.?
