حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ لَيْثٍ صَاحِبُ الْكَرَابِيسِيِّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَجِيدِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِيالْعَدَّاءُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ هَوْذَةَ: أَلَا نُقْرِئُكَ كِتَابًا كَتَبَهُ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: بَلَى. فَأَخْرَجَ لِي كِتَابًا، فَإِذَا فِيهِ: هَذَا مَا اشْتَرَى الْعَدَّاءُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ هَوْذَةَ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اشْتَرَى مِنْهُ عَبْدًا، أَوْ أَمَةً لَا دَاءَ وَلَا غَائِلَةَ وَلَا خِبْثَةَ بَيْعَ الْمُسْلِمِ لِلْمُسْلِمِ .
عبدالمجید بن وہب کہتے ہیں کہ مجھ سے عداء بن خالد بن ہوذہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: کیا میں تم کو وہ تحریر پڑھ کر نہ سناؤں جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے میرے لیے لکھی تھی؟ میں نے کہا: کیوں نہیں؟ ضرور سنائیں، تو انہوں نے ایک تحریر نکالی، میں نے جو دیکھا تو اس میں لکھا تھا: یہ وہ ہے جو عداء بن خالد بن ہوذہ نے محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے خریدا، عداء نے آپ سے ایک غلام یا ایک لونڈی خریدی، اس میں نہ تو کوئی بیماری ہے، نہ وہ چوری کا مال ہے، اور نہ وہ مال حرام ہے، مسلمان سے مسلمان کی بیع ہے ۔
It was narrated that 'Abdul-Majid bin Wahb said: Adda' bin Khalid bin Hawdhah said to me: 'Shall I not read to you a letter that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), wrote to me?' I said: 'Yes.' So he took out a letter. In it was: 'This is what 'Adda' bin Khalid bin Hawdhah bought [from] Muhammad the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) He bought from him a slave' or 'a female slave, having no ailments, nor being a runaway, not having any malicious behavior. Sold by a Muslim to a Muslim.'

One of us said to him: 'We see that you are of good cheer today.' He said: 'Yes, praise is to Allah.' Then he spoke to the people about being rich. He said: 'There is nothing wrong with being rich for one who has piety, but good health for one who has piety is better than riches, and being of good cheer is a blessing.
