حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مُغِيرَةُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْمَوْصِلِيُّ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَيٍّ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، قَالَ: عَلَّمْتُ نَاسًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الصُّفَّةِ الْقُرْآنَ وَالْكِتَابَةَ، فَأَهْدَى إِلَيَّ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ قَوْسًا، فَقُلْتُ: لَيْسَتْ بِمَالٍ وَأَرْمِي عَنْهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْهَا؟، فَقَالَ: إِنْ سَرَّكَ، أَنْ تُطَوَّقَ بِهَا طَوْقًا مِنْ نَارٍ فَاقْبَلْهَا .
عبادہ بن صامت رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے اہل صفہ میں سے کئی لوگوں کو قرآن پڑھنا اور لکھنا سکھایا، تو ان میں سے ایک شخص نے مجھے ایک کمان ہدیے میں دی، میں نے اپنے جی میں کہا: یہ تو مال نہیں ہے، یہ اللہ کے راستے میں تیر اندازی کے لیے میرے کام آئے گا، پھر میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس کے متعلق سوال کیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اگر تم کو یہ اچھا لگے کہ اس کمان کے بدلے تم کو آگ کا ایک طوق پہنایا جائے تو اس کو قبول کر لو ۱؎۔
It was narrated that 'Ubadah bin Samit said: I taught people from Ahtus-Suffah Qur'an and how to write, and one of them gave me a bow. I said: 'It is not money, and I can shoot (with it) for the sake of Allah., I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about it and he said: 'If it would please you to have a necklace of fire placed around your neck, then accept it.'

One of us said to him: 'We see that you are of good cheer today.' He said: 'Yes, praise is to Allah.' Then he spoke to the people about being rich. He said: 'There is nothing wrong with being rich for one who has piety, but good health for one who has piety is better than riches, and being of good cheer is a blessing.
