حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْخَرَّاطُ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْكُرَيْبٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: هَلَكَ ابْنٌ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَقَالَ لِي: يَا كُرَيْبُ، قُمْ فَانْظُرْ: هَلِ اجْتَمَعَ لِابْنِي أَحَدٌ؟، فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ: وَيْحَكَ، كَمْ تَرَاهُمْ، أَرْبَعِينَ؟، قُلْتُ: لَا، بَلْ هُمْ أَكْثَرُ، قَالَ: فَاخْرُجُوا بِابْنِي، فَأَشْهَدُ لَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: مَا مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ يَشْفَعُونَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ إِلَّا شَفَّعَهُمُ اللَّهُ .
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے غلام کریب کہتے ہیں کہ عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے ایک بیٹے کا انتقال ہو گیا، تو انہوں نے مجھ سے کہا: اے کریب! جاؤ، دیکھو میرے بیٹے کے جنازے کے لیے کچھ لوگ جمع ہوئے ہیں؟ میں نے کہا: جی ہاں، انہوں نے کہا: تم پر افسوس ہے، ان کی تعداد کتنی سمجھتے ہو؟ کیا وہ چالیس ہیں؟ میں نے کہا: نہیں، بلکہ وہ اس سے زیادہ ہیں، تو انہوں نے کہا: تو پھر میرے بیٹے کو نکالو، میں قسم کھاتا ہوں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے سنا ہے: اگر چالیس ۱؎ مومن کسی مومن کے لیے شفاعت کریں تو اللہ تعالیٰ ان کی شفاعت کو قبول کرے گا ۔
It was narrated that Kuraib the freed slave of ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas said: “A son of ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas died, and he said to me: ‘O Kuraib! Get up and see if anyone has assembled (to pray) for my son.’ I said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Woe to you, how many do you see? Forty?’ I said: ‘No, rather there are more.’ He said: ‘Take my son out, for I bear witness that I hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “No (group of) forty believers intercede for a believer, but Allah will accept their intercession.”

Hadith 1433
It was narrated that ‘Ali said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The Muslim has six courtesies due from the Muslim: He should greet him with Salam when he meets him; he should accept his invitation if he invites him; he should answer [by Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you)] to him if he sneezes (and says Al- Hamdulillah); he should visit him if he falls sick; he should follow his funeral if he dies; and he should love for him what he loves for himself.”
