حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ الْأَرْقَمِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: لَمَّا مَرِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَضَهُ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ كَانَ فِي بَيْتِ عَائِشَةَ، فَقَالَ: ادْعُوا لِي عَلِيًّا ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، نَدْعُو لَكَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ؟، قَالَ: ادْعُوهُ ، قَالَتْ حَفْصَةُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، نَدْعُو لَكَ عُمَرَ؟ قَالَ: ادْعُوهُ ، قَالَتْ أُمُّ الْفَضْلِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، نَدْعُو لَكَ الْعَبَّاسَ؟، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَلَمَّا اجْتَمَعُوا رَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ، فَنَظَرَ فَسَكَتَ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: قُومُوا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ بِلَالٌ يُؤْذِنُهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ، فَقَالَ: مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَجُلٌ رَقِيقٌ حَصِرٌ، وَمَتَى لَا يَرَاكَ يَبْكِي، وَالنَّاسُ يَبْكُونَ، فَلَوْ أَمَرْتَ عُمَرَ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ، فَخَرَجَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ، فَوَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نَفْسِهِ خِفَّةً، فَخَرَجَ يُهَادَى بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ وَرِجْلَاهُ تَخُطَّانِ فِي الْأَرْضِ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ النَّاسُ سَبَّحُوا بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ، فَذَهَبَ لِيَسْتَأْخِرَ، فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيْ مَكَانَكَ، فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَلَسَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، وَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، فَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَأْتَمُّ بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَالنَّاسُ يَأْتَمُّونَ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: وَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْقِرَاءَةِ مِنْ حَيْثُ كَانَ بَلَغَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، قَالَ وَكِيعٌ: وَكَذَا السُّنَّةُ، قَالَ: فَمَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَرَضِهِ ذَلِكَ.
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہوسلمل اس بیماری میں مبتلا ہوئے جس میں آپ کی وفات ہوئی، اس وقت آپ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے گھر میں تھے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: علی ( رضی اللہ عنہ ) کو بلاؤ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا ہم ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلا دیں؟ آپ صلی اللہعلیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: انہیں بلاؤ حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلا دیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: بلا دو ، ام الفضل نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا ہم عباس کو بلا دیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہاں جب سب لوگ جمع ہو گئے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنا سر اٹھا کر ان لوگوں کی طرف دیکھا، اور خاموش رہے، عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس سے اٹھ جاؤ ۱؎، پھر بلال رضی اللہ عنہ آپ کو نماز کی اطلاع دینے کے لیے آئے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ابوبکر کو حکم دو کہ وہ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائیں عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نرم دل آدمی ہیں، پڑھنے میں ان کی زبان رک جاتی ہے، اور جب آپ کو نہ دیکھیں گے تو رونے لگیں گے، اور لوگ بھی رونا شروع کر دیں گے، لہٰذا اگر آپ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو حکم دیں کہ وہ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائیں ( تو بہتر ہو ) ، لیکن ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نکلے، اور انہوں نے لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنی طبیعت میں کچھ ہلکا پن محسوس کیا، تو دو آدمیوں پر ٹیک دے کر تشریف لائے اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے دونوں پاؤں زمین پر گھسٹ رہے تھے، جب لوگوں نے آپ کو آتے دیکھا تو ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کو «سبحان الله» کہا، وہ پیچھے ہٹنے لگے تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کو اشارہ کیا کہ اپنی جگہ پر رہو، چنانچہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تشریف آئے، اور ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کے دائیں جانب بیٹھ گئے، اور ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کھڑے رہے، ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اقتداء کر رہے تھے، اور لوگ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کی اقتداء کر رہے تھے، عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے قراءت وہاں سے شروع کی جہاں تک ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ پہنچے تھے ۲؎۔ وکیع نے کہا: یہی سنت ہے، راوی نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا اسی مرض میں انتقال ہو گیا۔
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) fell ill with what would be his final illness, he was in the house of ‘Aishah. He said: ‘Call ‘Ali for me.’ ‘Aishah said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, should we call Abu Bakr for you?’ He said: ‘Call him.’ Hafsah said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, should we call ‘Umar for you?’ He said: ‘Call him.’ Ummul-Fadl said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, should we call Al-‘Abbas for you?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ When they had gathered, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) lifted his head, looked and fell silent. ‘Umar said: ‘Get up and leave the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).’ Then Bilal came to tell him that the time for prayer had come, and he said: ‘Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer.’ ‘Aishah said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr is a soft and tender-hearted man, and if he does not see you, he will weep and the people will weep with him. If you tell ‘Umar to lead the people in prayer (that would be better).’ Abu Bakr went out and led the people in prayer, then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) felt a little better, so he came out, supported by two men, with his feet making lines along the ground. When the people saw him, they said: ‘Subhan-Allah,’ to alert Abu Bakr. He wanted to step back, but the Prophet (ﷺ) gestured him to stay where he was. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came and sat on his right. Abu Bakr stood up and he was following the lead of the Prophet (ﷺ), and the people were following the lead of Abu Bakr. Ibn ‘Abbas said; ‘And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) started to recite from where Abu Bakr had reached.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said the Takbir (Allah Akbar), he would remain silent between the Takbir and the recitation. I said: ‘May my father and mother be ransomed for you! I noticed that you are silent between the Takbir and the recitation; please tell me what you say then.’ He said: ‘I say: ‘Allahumma ba’id baini wa baina khatayaya kama ba’adta bainal-mashriqi wal-maghrib; Allahumma naqqini min khatayay kath-thawbil abyad minad- danas; Allahummaghsilni min khatayaya bil-ma’i waththalji wal-barad (O Allah, distance me from my sins as You have distanced the east from the west; O Allah purify me of my sins as a white garment is purified of dirt; O Allah, cleanse me of my sins with water and snow and hail).”

It was narrated from Ibn Jubair bin Mut’im that his father said: “I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he started the prayer. He said: ‘Allahu Akbaru kabiran, Allahu Akbaru kabiran (Allah is the Most Great indeed),’ three times; ‘Al-hamdu Lillahi kathiran, al-hamdu Lillahi kathiran (Much praise is to Allah),’ three times; ‘Subhan Allahi bukratan wa asilan (Glory is to Allah morning and evening),’ three times; ‘Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minash-Shaitanir-rajim, min hamzihi wa nafkhihi wa nafthihi (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the accursed Satan, from his madness, his poetry, and his pride).”
