أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قال: حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قال: صَلَّى مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ لِأَصْحَابِهِ الْعِشَاءَ فَطَوَّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَانْصَرَفَ رَجُلٌ مِنَّا فَأُخْبِرَ مُعَاذٌ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ مُنَافِقٌ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ دَخَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا قَالَ مُعَاذٌ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَتُرِيدُ أَنْ تَكُونَ فَتَّانًا يَا مُعَاذُ إِذَا أَمَمْتَ النَّاسَ فَاقْرَأْ بِ الشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا و سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى و اللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى و اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ .
جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ معاذ بن جبل رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنے اصحاب کو عشاء پڑھائی تو انہوں نے قرأت ان پر طویل کر دی، تو ہم میں سے ایک شخص نے نماز توڑ دی ( اور الگ نماز پڑھ لی ) معاذ رضی اللہ عنہ کو اس کے متعلق بتایا گیا تو انہوں نے کہا: وہ منافق ہے، جب یہ بات اس شخص کو معلوم ہوئی، تو وہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، اور معاذ رضی اللہ عنہ نے جو کچھ کہا تھا آپ کو اس کی خبر دی، تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا: معاذ! کیا تم فتنہ بپا کرنا چاہتے ہو؟ جب تم لوگوں کی امامت کرو تو «والشمس وضحاها»، «سبح اسم ربك الأعلى»، «والليل إذا يغشى» اور «اقرأ باسم ربك» پڑھا کرو ۔
It was narrated that Jabir said: Mu'adh bin Jabal led his companions in praying Isha' and he made it lengthy. A man left, and Mu'adh was told about that, and he said: 'He is a hypocrite.' When news of that reached the man, he went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him what Mu'adh had said. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: 'Do you want to be a cause of hardship, O Mu'adh? When you lead the people in prayer, recite 'By the sun and its brightness' and 'Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High' and 'By the night as it envelops'and 'Read! In the Name of your Lord.'

It was narrated that Ibn Umar said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he said the opening Takbir of the prayer, raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders. When he said the Takbir before bowing he did likewise, and when he said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),' he did likewise, then he said: 'Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (Our Lord, to You be praise).' But he did not do that when he prostrated or when he raised his head from prostration.
