أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ دُرُسْتَ، قال: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَهُوَ الْقَنَّادُ، قال: حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، قال: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: كَانَ يُصَلِّي بِنَا الظُّهْرَ فَيَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ يُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ كَذَلِكَ وَكَانَ يُطِيلُ الرَّكْعَةَ فِي صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَالرَّكْعَةَ الْأُولَى يَعْنِي فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ .
ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کہتے ہیں کہ آپ ہمیں ظہر پڑھاتے تھے تو آپ پہلی دونوں رکعتوں میں قرآت کرتے، اور یونہی کبھی ایک آدھ آیت ہمیں سنا دیتے، اور ظہر اور فجر کی پہلی رکعت بہ نسبت دوسری رکعت کے لمبی کرتے تھے ۱؎۔
Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah narrated that: His father said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to lead us in prayer, and he would recite in the first two rak'ahs and make us hear some verses. And he would make the (first) Rak'ah lengthy in Zuhr, and also the first rak'ah. Meaning in Subh.

It was narrated that Ibn Umar said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he said the opening Takbir of the prayer, raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders. When he said the Takbir before bowing he did likewise, and when he said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),' he did likewise, then he said: 'Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (Our Lord, to You be praise).' But he did not do that when he prostrated or when he raised his head from prostration.
