أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، قال: حَدَّثَنِيمَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدٍ الْقَارِيِّ، قال: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ هِشَامَ بْنَ حَكِيمٍ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفُرْقَانِ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَا أَقْرَؤُهَا عَلَيْهِ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْرَأَنِيهَا فَكِدْتُ أَنْ أَعْجَلَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَمْهَلْتُهُ حَتَّى انْصَرَفَ، ثُمَّ لَبَّبْتُهُ بِرِدَائِهِ فَجِئْتُ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ هَذَا يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفُرْقَانِ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَا أَقْرَأْتَنِيهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: اقْرَأْ فَقَرَأَ الْقِرَاءَةَ الَّتِي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقْرَأُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: هَكَذَا أُنْزِلَتْ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِيَ اقْرَأْ فَقَرَأْتُ فَقَالَ: هَكَذَا أُنْزِلَتْ إِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ أُنْزِلَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ فَاقْرَءُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ .
عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ہشام بن حکیم رضی اللہ عنہ کو سورۃ الفرقان پڑھتے سنا، جس طرح میں پڑھ رہا تھا وہ اس کے خلاف پڑھ رہے تھے، جبکہ مجھے خود رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پڑھایا تھا، تو قریب تھا کہ میں ان کے خلاف جلد بازی میں کچھ کر بیٹھوں ۱؎، لیکن میں نے انہیں مہلت دی یہاں تک کہ وہ پڑھ کر فارغ ہو گئے، پھر میں نے ان کی چادر سمیت ان کا گریبان پکڑ کر انہیں کھینچا، اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس لے کر آیا، اور عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! میں نے انہیں سورۃ الفرقان ایسے طریقہ پر پڑھتے سنا ہے جو اس طریقہ کے خلاف ہے جس طریقہ پر آپ نے مجھے یہ سورت پڑھائی ہے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا: ( اچھا ) تم پڑھو! ، انہوں نے اسی طریقہ پر پڑھا جس پر میں نے ان کو پڑھتے ہوئے سنا تھا، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ اسی طرح نازل کی گئی ہے ، پھر مجھ سے فرمایا: تم پڑھو! تو میں نے بھی پڑھی، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ اسی طرح نازل کی گئی ہے، یہ قرآن سات حرفوں پر نازل کیا گیا ہے، ان میں سے جو آسان ہو تم اسی طرح پڑھو ۔
It was narrated that AbdurRahman bin Abdul-Qari said: I heard Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, say: 'I heard Hisham bin Hakim bin Hizam reciting Surat Al-Furqan, in a way that I had not been taught, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had taught me. I was about to interrupt him (in his prayer), but I left him alone until he had finished. Then I grabbed him by his garment and brought him to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I heard this man reciting Surat Al-Furqan in a way that you did not teach me.' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: 'Recite.' So he recited it in the way that I had heard him recite. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'It was revealed like this.' Then he said to me: 'Recite.' So I recited it and he said: 'It was revealed like this. This Quran has been revealed in seven different modes, so recite as much of the Quran as may be easy for you.'

It was narrated that Ibn Umar said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he said the opening Takbir of the prayer, raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders. When he said the Takbir before bowing he did likewise, and when he said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),' he did likewise, then he said: 'Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (Our Lord, to You be praise).' But he did not do that when he prostrated or when he raised his head from prostration.
