The Book of the Times (of Prayer)

ابوامامہ باہلی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے عمرو بن عبسہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو یہ کہتے سنا کہ میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا کوئی ایسی گھڑی ہے جس میں دوسری گھڑیوں کی بنسبت اللہ تعالیٰ کا قرب زیادہ ہوتا ہو، یا کوئی ایسا وقت ہے جس میں اللہ کا ذکر مطلوب ہو؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:  ہاں، اللہ عزوجل بندوں کے سب سے زیادہ قریب رات کے آخری حصہ میں ہوتا ہے، اگر تم اس وقت اللہ عزوجل کو یاد کرنے والوں میں ہو سکتے ہو تو ہو جاؤ، کیونکہ فجر میں فرشتے حاضر ہوتے ہیں، اور سورج نکلنے تک رہتے ہیں،  ( پھر چلے جاتے ہیں )  کیونکہ وہ شیطان کے دونوں سینگوں کے درمیان نکلتا ہے، اور یہ کافروں کی نماز کا وقت ہے، لہٰذا  ( اس وقت )  تم نماز نہ پڑھو، یہاں تک کہ سورج نیزہ کے برابر بلند ہو جائے، اور اس کی شعاع جاتی رہے پھر نماز میں فرشتے حاضر ہوتے، اور موجود رہتے ہیں یہاں تک کہ ٹھیک دوپہر میں سورج نیزہ کی طرح سیدھا ہو جائے، تو اس وقت بھی نماز نہ پڑھو، یہ ایسا وقت ہے جس میں جہنم کے دروازے کھول دئیے جاتے ہیں، اور وہ بھڑکائی جاتی ہے، تو اس وقت بھی نماز نہ پڑھو یہاں تک کہ سایہ لوٹنے لگ جائے، پھر نماز میں فرشتے حاضر ہوتے ہیں، اور موجود رہتے ہیں یہاں تک کہ سورج ڈوب جائے، کیونکہ وہ شیطان کی دو سینگوں کے درمیان ڈوبتا ہے، اور وہ کافروں کی نماز کا وقت ہے ۔

Abu Yahya Sulaim bin 'Amir, Damrah bin Habib and Abu Talhah Nu'aim bin Ziyad said: We heard Abu Umamah Al-Bahili say: 'I heard 'Amrah bin 'Abasah say: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is there any moment which brings one close to Allah than another, or any moment that should be sought out for remembering Allah? He said: 'Yes, the closest that the Lord is to His slave is in the last part of the night, so if you can be among those who remember Allah at that time, then do so. For prayer is attended and witnessed (by the angels) until the sun rises, then it rises between the two horns of the Shaitan, that is the time when the disbelievers pray, so do not pray until the sun had risen to the height of a spear and its rays have disappeared. Then prayer is attended and witness (by the angels) until the sun is directly overhead at midday, and that is the time when the gates of Hell are opened and it is stoked up. So do not pray until the shadows appear. Then prayer is attended and witnessed (by angels) until the sun sets, and it sets between the horns of a Shaitan, and that is the time when the disbelievers pray.'
