أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يُحَدِّثُ: عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ جَاءَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: أَلَا تَسْتَعْمِلُنِي كَمَا اسْتَعْمَلْتَ فُلَانًا ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّكُمْسَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً، فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ .
اسید بن حضیر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ انصار کے ایک شخص نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آ کر کہا: کیا آپ مجھے کام نہیں دیں گے جیسے فلاں کو دیا ہے؟ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”میرے بعد تم پاؤ گے کہ ترجیحات ۱؎ ہوں گی ایسے حالات میں تم صبر سے کام لینا یہاں تک کہ حوض پر تم مجھ سے ملو“۔
It was narrated from Usaid bin Hudair that: A man from among the Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah [SAW] and said: Will you not appoint me as you appointed so-and-so? He said: You will encounter selfishness after I am gone, so be patient until you meet me at the cistern (Al-Hawd).

It was narrated that Humaid bin Hilal said: Abu Rifa'ah said: 'I came to the Messenger of Allah [SAW] while he was delivering a Khutbah, and said: O Messenger of Allah, a stranger has come to ask about his religion, for he does not know what his religion is. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] stopped delivering his Khutbah and turned to me. A chair was brought, and I think its legs were of iron. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] sat down on it and started to teach me what Allah has taught him, then he went and completed his Khutbah.'
