أَخْبَرَنَا هِلَالُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ. ح وأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ حَجَّاجًا، يَقُولُ: قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ نُكِحَتْ عَلَى صَدَاقٍ، أَوْ حِبَاءٍ، أَوْ عِدَةٍ قَبْلَ عِصْمَةِ النِّكَاحِ فَهُوَ لَهَا، وَمَا كَانَ بَعْدَ عِصْمَةِ النِّكَاحِ فَهُوَ لِمَنْ أُعْطَاهُ، وَأَحَقُّ مَا أُكْرِمَ عَلَيْهِ الرَّجُلُ ابْنَتُهُ أَوْ أُخْتُهُ ، اللَّفْظُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ.
عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس عورت سے نکاح مہر پر کیا گیا ہو یا ( مہر کے علاوہ ) اسے عطیہ دیا گیا ہو یا نکاح سے پہلے عورت کو کسی چیز کے دینے کا وعدہ کیا گیا ہو تو یہ سب چیزیں عورت کا حق ہوں گی ( اور وہ پائے گی ) ۔ اور جو چیزیں نکاح منعقد ہو جانے کے بعد ہوں گی تو وہ جسے دے گا چیز اس کی ہو گی۔ اور آدمی اپنی بیٹی اور بہن کے سبب عزت و اکرام کا مستحق ہے“، ( حدیث کے ) الفاظ ( راوی حدیث ) عبداللہ بن محمد بن تمیم کے ہیں۔
It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Amr: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whatever is given as a dowry, or gift or is promised her before the marriage belongs to her. Whatever is given after the marriage belongs to the one to whom it was given. And the most deserving for which a (man) is to be honored is (when marrying off) his daughter or sister.' This is the wording of 'Abdullah (one of the narrators).

Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd: It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa'd said: I was among the people when a woman said: 'I offer myself (in marriage) to you, O Messenger of Allah, see what you think of me.' A man stood up and said: 'Marry me to her.' He said: 'Go and find (something), even if it is an iron ring.' So he went, but he could not find anything, not even an iron ring. So the Messenger of Allah said: 'Do you have (memorized) any surahs of the Qur'an?' He said: 'Yes.' So he married him to her on the basis of what he knew of surahs of the Qur'an.
