أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَزَوَّجَهَا وَهِيَ بِأَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ، زَوَّجَهَا النَّجَاشِيُّ، وَأَمْهَرَهَا أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافٍ، وَجَهَّزَهَا مِنْ عِنْدِهِ، وَبَعَثَ بِهَا مَعَ شُرَحْبِيلَ ابْنِ حَسَنَةَ وَلَمْ يَبْعَثْ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِشَيْءٍ وَكَانَ مَهْرُ نِسَائِهِ أَرْبَعَ مِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ .
ام المؤمنین ام حبیبہ رضی الله عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے اس وقت نکاح کیا جب وہ سر زمین حبشہ میں تھیں، ان کی شادی نجاشی بادشاہ نے کرائی اور ان کا مہر چار ہزار ( درہم ) مقرر کیا۔ اور اپنے پاس سے تیار کر کے انہیں شرحبیل بن حسنہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ ( رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس ) بھیج دیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کے پاس ( حبشہ میں ) کوئی چیز نہ بھیجی، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی ( دوسری ) بیویوں کا مہر چار سو درہم تھا۔
It was narrated from Umm Habibah that the Messenger of Allah married her when she was in Ethiopia. An-NajaShi performed the marriage for her and gave her a dowry of four thousand, and he fitted her out from his own wealth, and sent her with Shurahbil bin Hasanah. The Messenger of Allah did not send her anything, and the dowry of his wives was four hundred Dirhams.

Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd: It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa'd said: I was among the people when a woman said: 'I offer myself (in marriage) to you, O Messenger of Allah, see what you think of me.' A man stood up and said: 'Marry me to her.' He said: 'Go and find (something), even if it is an iron ring.' So he went, but he could not find anything, not even an iron ring. So the Messenger of Allah said: 'Do you have (memorized) any surahs of the Qur'an?' He said: 'Yes.' So he married him to her on the basis of what he knew of surahs of the Qur'an.
