أَخْبَرَنَا مُجَاهِدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ هُشَيْمٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ أَبِي أَدْرَكَهُ الْحَجُّ وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَثْبُتُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَإِنْ شَدَدْتُهُ خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَمُوتَ، أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ ؟ قَالَ: أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ، أَكَانَ مُجْزِئًا ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَحُجَّ عَنْ أَبِيكَ .
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ ایک شخص نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا: میرے باپ کو ( فریضہ ) حج نے اس حال میں پایا کہ وہ بہت بوڑھے ہو چکے ہیں اپنی سواری پر ٹک نہیں سکتے، اگر میں انہیں سواری پر بٹھا کر باندھ دوں تو ڈرتا ہوں کہ کہیں مر نہ جائیں۔ کیا میں ان کی طرف سے حج کر لوں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”تمہارا کیا خیال ہے اگر ان پر قرض ہوتا تو اسے ادا کرتے، تو وہ کافی ہو جاتا“؟ اس نے کہا: ہاں ( کافی ہو جاتا ) آپ نے فرمایا: ”پھر اپنے باپ کی طرف سے حج کرو“۔
It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas that: a man asked the Prophet The command of ) Hajj has come while my father is an old man and cannot sit firmly in his saddle; if I tie him (to the saddle) I fear that he will die. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf? He said: don't you think that if your father owed a debt and you paid it off, that would be good enough? He said: Yes. He said: Then perform Hajj on behalf of your father.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Abbas: Al-Fadl (his brother) was riding behind Allah's Apostle and a woman from the tribe of Khath'am came and Al-Fadl started looking at her and she started looking at him. The Prophet turned Al-Fadl's face to the other side. The woman said, O Allah's Apostle! The obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allah on His devotees has become due on my father and he is old and weak, and he cannot sit firm on the Mount; may I perform Hajj on his behalf?
