أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ مُرَّ بِجَنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ وَجَبَتْ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُرَّ بِجَنَازَةٍ أُخْرَى فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ وَجَبَتْ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ عُمَرُ:‏‏‏‏ فِدَاكَ أَبِي وَأُمِّي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مُرَّ بِجَنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا فَقُلْتَ:‏‏‏‏ وَجَبَتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُرَّ بِجَنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا فَقُلْتَ:‏‏‏‏ وَجَبَتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ أَثْنَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ خَيْرًا وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ أَثْنَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ شَرًّا وَجَبَتْ لَهُ النَّارُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ .

انس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ایک جنازہ لے جایا گیا تو اس کی تعریف کی گئی، تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”واجب ہو گئی“، ( پھر ) ایک دوسرا جنازہ لے جایا گیا، تو اس کی مذمت کی گئی تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”واجب ہو گئی“، تو عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا: میرے ماں باپ آپ پر فدا ہوں، ایک جنازہ لے جایا گیا تو اس کی تعریف کی گئی، تو آپ نے فرمایا: واجب ہو گئی پھر ایک دوسرا جنازہ لے جایا گیا تو اس کی مذمت کی گئی، تو آپ نے فرمایا: واجب ہو گئی؟، تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”تم لوگوں نے جس کی تعریف کی تھی اس کے لیے جنت واجب ہو گئی، اور جس کی مذمت کی تھی اس کے لیے جہنم واجب ہو گئی، تم ۱؎ روئے زمین پر اللہ کے گواہ ہو“۔

It was narrated that Anas said: A funeral passed by and the deceased was praised. The Prophet said: It is granted. Another funeral passed by and the deceased was criticized. The Prophet said: It is granted. 'Umar said: May my father and mother be ransomed for you. One funeral passed by and the deceased was praised, and you said, 'It is granted? ' He said: Whoever is praised will be granted Paradise, and whoever is criticized will be granted Hell, You are the witnesses of Allah on Earth.

It was narrated form Anas that the Messenger of Allah said: None of you should wish for death because of some harm that befalls him, rather he should say: 'Allahumma ahini ma kanatil-hayatu khairanli wa tawaffani idha kanatil-wafatu khairanli (O Allah, keep me alive so alive so long as life is good for me, and cause me to die when death is good for me.) '
