أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ بَعْضِ إِخْوَتِهِ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، قَالَتْ: تُوُفِّيَتِ ابْنَةٌ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرَنَا بِغَسْلِهَا، فَقَالَ: اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ سَبْعًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ، قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: وِتْرًا، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ، فَأَعْطَانَا حِقْوَهُ، وَقَالَ: أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ .
ام عطیہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی ایک بیٹی کی وفات ہو گئی، تو آپ نے مجھے انہیں نہلانے کا حکم دیا اور فرمایا: تین بار، یا پانچ بار، یا سات بار غسل دو، یا اس سے زیادہ اگر ضرورت سمجھو ، تو میں نے کہا: طاق بار؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہاں، اور آخری مرتبہ کچھ کافور یا کافور کی کچھ مقدار ملا لو، ( اور ) جب فارغ ہو جاؤ تو مجھے باخبر کرنا ، چنانچہ جب ہم فارغ ہوئے، ہم نے آپ کو خبر کی تو آپ نے ہمیں اپنا تہبند دیا، اور فرمایا: اسے ( اس کے جسم سے ) لپیٹ دو ۔
It was narrated that Umm 'Atiyyah said: A daughter of the Messenger of Allah died and he told us to wash her. He said: 'Three times, or five or seven, or more than that, if you think that (is necessary).' I said: 'An odd number?' He said: 'Yes, and put camphor, or some camphor, in (the water) the last time. And when you have finished, inform me.' So when you have finished, we informed him, and then gave us his waist-wrap and said: 'Shroud her in it.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: None of you should wish for death. Either he is a doer of good, so perhaps he may do more good, or he is an evildoer but perhaps he will give up his evil ways.
