The Book of Eclipses

عبدالرحمٰن بن نمر سے روایت ہے کہ   انہوں نے زہری سے گرہن کی نماز کے طریقے کے بارے میں پوچھا تو انہوں نے کہا: مجھے عروہ بن زبیر نے خبر دی ہے وہ ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ سورج گرہن لگا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک آدمی کو حکم دیا، تو اس نے اعلان کیا کہ نماز جماعت سے ہونے والی ہے، تو لوگ جمع ہو گئے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں نماز پڑھائی، آپ نے اللہ اکبر کہا، پھر ایک لمبی قرآت کی، پھر اللہ اکبر کہا، پھر ایک لمبا رکوع کیا، اپنے قیام کی طرح یا اس سے بھی لمبا، پھر اپنا سر اٹھایا، اور «سمع اللہ لمن حمده» کہا، پھر ایک لمبی قرآت کی یہ پہلی قرآت سے کم تھی، پھر «اللہ اکبر»کہا، اور ایک لمبا رکوع کیا یہ پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا، پھر اپنا سر اٹھایا، اور «سمع اللہ لمن حمده» کہا، پھر آپ نے «اللہ اکبر» کہا، اور ایک لمبا سجدہ کیا اپنے رکوع کی طرح یا اس سے بھی لمبا، پھر آپ نے «اللہ اکبر» کہا، اور اپنا سر اٹھایا، پھر آپ نے «اللہ اکبر» کہا اور سجدہ کیا، پھر آپ نے «اللہ اکبر» کہا اور ایک لمبی قرآت کی، یہ پہلی قرآت سے کم تھی، پھر «اللہ اکبر» کہا، پھر ایک لمبا رکوع کیا یہ پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا، پھر اپنا سر اٹھایا، اور «سمع اللہ لمن حمده» کہا، پھر ایک لمبی قرآت کی لیکن یہ پہلی قرآت سے جو دوسری رکعت میں کی تھی کم تھی، پھر آپ نے «اللہ اکبر» کہا، اور ایک لمبا رکوع کیا، اور یہ پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا، پھر«اللہ اکبر» کہا اور اپنا سر اٹھایا، پھر «سمع اللہ لمن حمده» کہا، پھر «اللہ اکبر» کہا، اور سجدہ کیا، اور یہ پہلے سجدہ سے کم تھا، پھر آپ نے تشہد پڑھا، پھر سلام پھیرا، پھر ان کے بیچ میں کھڑے ہوئے، اور اللہ کی حمد و ثنا بیان کی، پھر فرمایا:  سورج اور چاند نہ تو کسی کے مرنے سے گہناتے ہیں اور نہ ہی کسی کے پیدا ہونے سے، بلکہ یہ دونوں اللہ تعالیٰ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں، تو ان میں سے کسی کو گہن لگ جائے تو نماز کو یاد کر کے اللہ تعالیٰ کی طرف دوڑ پڑو ۔

It was narrated that Aishah said: There was an eclipse of the sun and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ordered a man to call out: As-salatu jami'ah (prayer is about to begin in congregation). The people gathered and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led them in prayer. He said the takbir, then he recited at length. Then he said the takbir and bowed for a long time, as long as he had recited or longer. Then he raised his head and said: Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him) Then he recited at length, but it was shorter than the first time, then he said the takbir and bowed for a long time, but it was shorter than the first time. Then he raised his head and said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him). Then he said the takbir and prostrated for a long time, as long as he had bowed or longer. Then he said the takbir and raised his head, then he said the takbir and prostrated. Then he said the takbir and stood up, and recited for a long time that was shorter than the first time. Then he said the takbir and bowed for a long time that was shorter than the first time. Then he raised his head and said: Sami' Allahu liman hamidah. (Allah hears those who praise Him). Then he recited for a long time that was shorter than the first recitation in the second standing. Then he said the takbir and bowed for a long time that was shorter than the first time. Then he raised his head and said: Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him). Then he said the takbir and prostrated for a long time that was shorter than the first time. Then he recited the tashahhud, then he said the taslim. Then he stood before them and praised and glorified Allah, then he said: 'The sun and the moon do not become eclipsed for the death or birth of anyone, but they are two of the signs of Allah (SWT). Whichever of them becomes eclipsed, turn to Allah (SWT), the Mighty and Sublime, and pray.'
