أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ يَزِيدَ، قال: حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ، قال: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ، قال: سَمِعْتُالنَّزَّالَ بْنَ سَبْرَةَ، قال: رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ قَعَدَ لِحَوَائِجِ النَّاسِ، فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتِ الْعَصْرُ، أُتِيَ بِتَوْرٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُ كَفًّا فَمَسَحَ بِهِ وَجْهَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ وَرَأْسَهُ وَرِجْلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ فَضْلَهُ فَشَرِبَ قَائِمًا . وَقَالَ: إِنَّ نَاسًا يَكْرَهُونَ هَذَا، وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُهُ، وَهَذَا وُضُوءُ مَنْ لَمْ يُحْدِثْ.
عبدالملک بن میسرہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے نزال بن سبرہ سے سنا، انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو دیکھا کہ آپ نے ظہر کی نماز پڑھی، پھر لوگوں کی ضرورتیں پوری کرنے یعنی ان کے مقدمات نپٹانے کے لیے بیٹھے، جب عصر کا وقت ہوا تو پانی کا ایک برتن لایا گیا، آپ نے اس سے ایک ہتھیلی میں پانی لیا، پھر اسے اپنے چہرہ، اپنے دونوں بازو، سر اور دونوں پیروں پر ملا ۱؎، پھر بچا ہوا پانی لیا اور کھڑے ہو کر پیا، اور کہنے لگے کہ کچھ لوگ اسے ناپسند کرتے ہیں حالانکہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو ایسا کرتے دیکھا ہے، اور یہ ان لوگوں کا وضو ہے جن کا وضو نہیں ٹوٹا ہے۔
An-Nazzal bin Sabrah said: I saw 'Ali (may Allah be please with him) praying Zuhr, then he sat to tend to the people's needs, and when the time for 'Asr came, a vessel of water was brought to him. He took a handful of it and wiped his face, forearms, head and feet with it, then he took what was left and drank standing up. He said: 'People dislike this, but I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) doing it. This is the Wudu' of one who has not committed Hadath.

It was narrated from Abu Burdah that Abu Musa said: I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) when he was using the Siwak and with me were two men of the Ash'aris - one on my right and the other on my left - who were seeking to be appointed as officials. I said: 'By the One Who sent you as a Prophet with the truth, they did not tell me why they wanted to come with me and I did not realize that they were seeking to be appointed as officials.' And I could see his Siwak beneath his lip, then it slipped and he said: 'We do not' - or; 'We will never appoint as an official anyone who seeks that. Rather you should go.' So he sent his (Abu Musa) to Yemen, then he sent Mu'adh bin Jabal to go after him - may Allah be pleased with them.
