أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي الأَشْعَثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَذَكَرَتْ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُحِبُّ التَّيَامُنَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ فِي طُهُورِهِ وَنَعْلِهِ وَتَرَجُّلِهِ . قَالَ شُعْبَةُ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُ الْأَشْعَثَ بِوَاسِطٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ يَحِبُّ التَّيَامُنَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَكَرَ شَأْنَهُ كُلَّهُ. ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ بِالْكُوفَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ يُحِبُّ التَّيَامُنَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا ذکر کرتی ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اپنے وضو کرنے میں، جوتا پہننے میں، اور کنگھی کرنے میں طاقت بھر داہنی جانب کو پسند کرتے تھے۔ شعبہ کہتے ہیں: پھر میں نے اشعث سے مقام واسط میں سنا وہ کہہ رہے تھے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اپنے تمام امور کو داہنے سے شروع کرنے کو پسند فرماتے تھے، پھر میں نے کوفہ میں انہیں کہتے ہوئے سنا کہ آپ حتیٰ المقدور داہنے سے شروع کرنے کو پسند کرتے تھے ۱؎۔

It was narrated that 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to like to start with the right whenever he could, when purifying himself and when putting on shoes or combing his hair. (One of the narrators) Shu'bah said: Then I heard Al-Ash'ath in Wasit, saying that he liked to start with the right, and he preferred that in all his affaris. Then I heard him in Al-Kufah saying that he liked to start with the right whenever he could.

Hadith 4

It was narrated from Abu Burdah that Abu Musa said: I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) when he was using the Siwak and with me were two men of the Ash'aris - one on my right and the other on my left - who were seeking to be appointed as officials. I said: 'By the One Who sent you as a Prophet with the truth, they did not tell me why they wanted to come with me and I did not realize that they were seeking to be appointed as officials.' And I could see his Siwak beneath his lip, then it slipped and he said: 'We do not' - or; 'We will never appoint as an official anyone who seeks that. Rather you should go.' So he sent his (Abu Musa) to Yemen, then he sent Mu'adh bin Jabal to go after him - may Allah be pleased with them.

Abdur-Rahman bin Abu 'Atiq said: My father told me: 'I heard 'Aishah say, (narrating) from the Prophet (ﷺ): Siwak is a means of purification for the mouth and is pleasing to the Lord.
