حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: لَحِقَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ رَجُلًا فِي غُنَيْمَةٍ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَقَتَلُوهُ وَأَخَذُوا تِلْكَ الْغُنَيْمَةَ فَنَزَلَتْ: وَلا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا تَبْتَغُونَ عَرَضَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا سورة النساء آية 94 تِلْكَ الْغُنَيْمَةَ .
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں مسلمان ایک شخص سے ملے جو اپنی بکریوں کے چھوٹے سے ریوڑ میں تھا اس نے السلام علیکم کہا پھر بھی مسلمانوں نے اسے قتل کر دیا اور وہ ریوڑ لے لیا تو یہ آیت کریمہ: «ولا تقولوا لمن ألقى إليكم السلام لست مؤمنا تبتغون عرض الحياة الدنيا» جو شخص تمہیں سلام کہے اسے یہ نہ کہو کہ تو مسلمان نہیں ہے تم لوگ دنیاوی زندگی کا ساز و سامان یعنی ان بکریوں کو چاہتے ہو ( سورۃ النساء: ۹۴ ) نازل ہوئی۔
Narrated Ibn Abbas: The Muslims met a man with some sheep of his. He said: Peace be upon you. But they killed him and took those few sheep. Thereupon the following Quranic verse was revealed: . . . And say to anyone who offers you a salutation: Thou art none of believer, coveting the perishable good of this life. meaning these few sheep.
