حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ اللَّيْثِ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ جَدِّي، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ، عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ، يَقُولُ: أَقْبَلْتُ أَنَا وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حتَّى دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي الْجُهَيْمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الصِّمَّةِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، فَقَالَ أَبُو الْجُهَيْمِ: أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَ بِئْرِ جَمَلٍ، فَلَقِيَهُ رَجُلٌ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ، فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامَ حَتَّى أَتَى عَلَى جِدَارٍ فَمَسَحَ بِوَجْهِهِ وَيَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامَ .
بداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے غلام عمیر کہتے ہیں کہ میں اور ام المؤمنین میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے غلام عبداللہ بن یسار دونوں ابوجہیم بن حارث بن صمہ انصاری رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس آئے تو ابوجہیم نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بئرجمل ( مدینے کے قریب ایک جگہ کا نام ) کی طرف سے تشریف لائے تو ایک شخص آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ملا اور اس نے آپ کو سلام کیا، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے سلام کا جواب نہیں دیا، یہاں تک کہ آپ ایک دیوار کے پاس آئے اور آپ نے ( دونوں ہاتھوں کو دیوار پر مار کر ) اپنے منہ اور دونوں ہاتھوں کا مسح کیا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس کے سلام کا جواب دیا۔
Umair, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, said that he heard him say: I and Abdullah bin Yasar, the freed slave of Maimunah, wife of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, came and entered upon Abu al-Juhaim bin al-Harith bin al-Simmat al-Ansari. Abu al-Juhaim said: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم came from Bir Jamal (a place near Madina) and a man met him and saluted him. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم did not return the salutation until he came to a wall and wiped his face and hands and then returned the salutation (i. e. after performing tayammum).

Abu al-Tayyah reported on the authority of a shaykh (an old man): When Abdullah ibn Abbas came to Basrah, people narrated to him traditions from Abu Musa. Therefore Ibn Abbas wrote to him asking him about certain things. In reply Abu Musa wrote to him saying: One day I was in the company of theMessenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. He wanted to urinate. Then he came to a soft ground at the foot of a wall and urinated. He (the Prophet) then said: If any of you wants to urinate, he should look for a place (like this) for his urination.

Anas bin Malik reported: When the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم entered the toilet, he used to say (before entering): O Allaah, I seek refuge in Thee. This is according to the version of Hammad. Abd al-Warith has another version: I seek refuge in Allaah from male and female devils.
