حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ. ح وحَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ الْمَعْنَى وَاحِدٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ،عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُسَيْدَ بْنَ حُضَيْرٍ وَأُنَاسًا مَعَهُ فِي طَلَبِ قِلَادَةٍ أَضَلَّتْهَا عَائِشَةُ، فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّوْا بِغَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ، فَأَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لَهُ، فَأُنْزِلَتْ آيَةُ التَّيَمُّمِ ، زَادَ ابْنُ نُفَيْلٍ، فَقَالَ لَهَا أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ: يَرْحَمُكِ اللَّهُ، مَا نَزَلَ بِكِ أَمْرٌ تَكْرَهِينَهُ إِلَّا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ وَلَكِ فِيهِ فَرَجًا.
ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسید بن حضیر رضی اللہ عنہ اور ان کے ساتھ کچھ لوگوں کو وہ ہار ڈھونڈنے کے لیے بھیجا جسے عائشہ نے کھو دیا تھا، وہاں نماز کا وقت ہو گیا تو لوگوں نے بغیر وضو نماز پڑھ لی، پھر وہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے اور آپ سے اس کا ذکر کیا تو تیمم کی آیت اتاری گئی۔ ابن نفیل نے اتنا اضافہ کیا ہے کہ اسید بن حضیر رضی اللہ عنہ نے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے کہا: اللہ آپ پر رحم کرے! آپ کو جب بھی کوئی ایسا معاملہ پیش آیا جسے آپ ناگوار سمجھتی رہیں تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے مسلمانوں کے لیے اور آپ کے لیے اس میں ضرور کشادگی پیدا کر دی ہے۔
Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم sent Usayd ibn Hudayr and some people with him to search the necklace lost by Aishah. The time of prayer came and they prayed without ablution. When they returned to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and related the fact to him, the verse concerning tayammum was revealed. Ibn Nufayl added: Usayd said to her: May Allah have mercy upon you! Never has there been an occasion when you were beset with an unpleasant matter but Allah made the Muslims and you come out of that.

Abu al-Tayyah reported on the authority of a shaykh (an old man): When Abdullah ibn Abbas came to Basrah, people narrated to him traditions from Abu Musa. Therefore Ibn Abbas wrote to him asking him about certain things. In reply Abu Musa wrote to him saying: One day I was in the company of theMessenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. He wanted to urinate. Then he came to a soft ground at the foot of a wall and urinated. He (the Prophet) then said: If any of you wants to urinate, he should look for a place (like this) for his urination.
