حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، و موسي بن إسماعيل، المعني وَاحِدٌ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ ابْنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ: مِنَ الْغَيْرَةِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ، فَأَمَّا الَّتِي يُحِبُّهَا اللَّهُ فَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي الرِّيبَةِ وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُهَا اللَّهُ فَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي غَيْرِ رِيبَةٍ وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْخُيَلَاءِ مَا يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ وَمِنْهَا مَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ، فَأَمَّا الْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ فَاخْتِيَالُ الرَّجُلِ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الْقِتَالِ وَاخْتِيَالُهُ عِنْدَ الصَّدَقَةِ وَأَمَّا الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ فَاخْتِيَالُهُ فِي الْبَغْيِ ، قَالَ مُوسَى: وَالْفَخْرِ.
جابر بن عتیک رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فرماتے تھے: ایک غیرت وہ ہے جسے اللہ پسند کرتا ہے، اور دوسری غیرت وہ ہے جسے اللہ ناپسند کرتا ہے، رہی وہ غیرت جسے اللہ پسند کرتا ہے تو وہ شک کے مقامات میں غیرت کرنا ہے، رہی وہ غیرت جسے اللہ ناپسند کرتا ہے وہ شک کے علاوہ میں غیرت کرنا ہے، اور تکبر میں سے ایک وہ ہے جسے اللہ ناپسند کرتا ہے اور دوسرا وہ ہے جسے اللہ پسند کرتا ہے، پس وہ تکبر جسے اللہ پسند کرتا ہے وہ لڑائی کے دوران آدمی کا کافروں سے جہاد کرتے وقت تکبر کرنا اور اترانا ہے، اور صدقہ دیتے وقت اس کا خوشی سے اترانا ہے، اور وہ تکبر جسے اللہ ناپسند کرتا ہے وہ ظلم میں تکبر کرنا ہے ، اور موسیٰ کی روایت میں ہے: فخر و مباہات میں تکبر کرنا ہے ۔
Narrated Jabir ibn Atik: The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: There is jealousy which Allah loves and jealousy which Allah hates. That which Allah loves is jealousy regarding a matter of doubt, and that which Allah hates is jealousy regarding something which is not doubtful. There is pride which Allah hates and pride which Allah loves. That which Allah loves is a man's pride when fighting and when giving sadaqah and that which Allah hates is pride shown by oppression. The narrator Musa said: by boasting.

Abu Saeed Al Khudri said “A Bedouin asked the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم about emigration. He replied “Woe to you! The matter of emigration is severe. Have you a Camel? He said, Yes. Miqdan bin Shuraih reported on the authority of his father. I asked Aishah about settling in the desert (to worship Allaah in loneliness). He sent me a She-Camel from the Camels of sadaqah that was not used as a mount.
