حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَتْ إِحْدَانَا إِذَا أَصَابَتْهَا جَنَابَةٌ، أَخَذَتْ ثَلَاثَ حَفَنَاتٍ هَكَذَا تَعْنِي بِكَفَّيْهَا جَمِيعًا، فَتَصُبُّ عَلَى رَأْسِهَا، وَأَخَذَتْ بِيَدٍ وَاحِدَةٍ فَصَبَّتْهَا عَلَى هَذَا الشِّقِّ وَالْأُخْرَى عَلَى الشِّقِّ الْآخَرِ .
ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں ہم ( ازواج مطہرات ) میں سے جب کسی کو غسل جنابت کی ضرورت ہوتی تو وہ تین لپ پانی اس طرح لیتی یعنی اپنی دونوں ہتھیلیوں کو ایک ساتھ کر کے، پھر اسے اپنے سر پر ڈالتی اور ایک ہاتھ سے پانی لیتی تو ایک جانب ڈالتی اور دوسرے سے لے کر دوسری جانب ڈالتی۔
Aishah said: When any of us was sexually defiled, she took three handfuls (of water) in this way, that is to say, with both hands together and poured (water) over her head. She took one handful (of water) and threw it on one side and the other on the other side.

Abu al-Tayyah reported on the authority of a shaykh (an old man): When Abdullah ibn Abbas came to Basrah, people narrated to him traditions from Abu Musa. Therefore Ibn Abbas wrote to him asking him about certain things. In reply Abu Musa wrote to him saying: One day I was in the company of theMessenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. He wanted to urinate. Then he came to a soft ground at the foot of a wall and urinated. He (the Prophet) then said: If any of you wants to urinate, he should look for a place (like this) for his urination.
