حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُدْخِلُ بِالسَّهْمِ الْوَاحِدِ ثَلَاثَةَ نَفَرٍ الْجَنَّةَ صَانِعَهُ يَحْتَسِبُ فِي صَنْعَتِهِ الْخَيْرَ وَالرَّامِيَ بِهِ، وَمُنْبِلَهُ وَارْمُوا وَارْكَبُوا، وَأَنْ تَرْمُوا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَرْكَبُوا، لَيْسَ مِنَ اللَّهْوِ إِلَّا ثَلَاثٌ: تَأْدِيبُ الرَّجُلِ فَرَسَهُ، وَمُلَاعَبَتُهُ أَهْلَهُ، وَرَمْيُهُ بِقَوْسِهِ وَنَبْلِهِ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَ الرَّمْيَ بَعْدَ مَا عَلِمَهُ رَغْبَةً عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهَا نِعْمَةٌ تَرَكَهَا أَوْ قَالَ كَفَرَهَا .
عقبہ بن عامر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: اللہ ایک تیر سے تین افراد کو جنت میں داخل کرتا ہے: ایک اس کے بنانے والے کو جو ثواب کے ارادہ سے بنائے، دوسرے اس کے چلانے والے کو، اور تیسرے اٹھا کر دینے والے کو، تم تیر اندازی کرو اور سواری کرو، اور تمہارا تیر اندازی کرنا، مجھے سواری کرنے سے زیادہ پسند ہے، لہو و لعب میں سے صرف تین طرح کا لہو و لعب جائز ہے: ایک آدمی کا اپنے گھوڑے کو ادب سکھانا، دوسرے اپنی بیوی کے ساتھ کھیل کود کرنا، تیسرے اپنے تیر کمان سے تیر اندازی کرنا اور جس نے تیر اندازی سیکھنے کے بعد اس سے بیزار ہو کر اسے چھوڑ دیا، تو یہ ایک نعمت ہے جسے اس نے چھوڑ دیا ، یا راوی نے کہا: جس کی اس نے ناشکری کی ۱؎۔
Narrated Uqbah ibn Amir: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say: Allah, Most High, will cause three persons to enter Paradise for one arrow: the maker when he has a good motive in making it, the one who shoots it, and the one who hands it; so shoot and ride, but your shooting is dearer to me than your riding. Everything with which a man amuses himself is vain except three (things): a man's training of his horse, his playing with his wife, and his shooting with his bow and arrow. If anyone abandons archery after becoming an adept through distaste for it, it is a blessing he has abandoned; or he said: for which he has been ungrateful.

Miqdan bin Shuraih reported on the authority of his father. I asked Aishah about settling in the desert (to worship Allaah in loneliness).
