حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، عَنْابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: لَيْسَ لِلْوَلِيِّ مَعَ الثَّيِّبِ أَمْرٌ، وَالْيَتِيمَةُ تُسْتَأْمَرُ، وَصَمْتُهَا إِقْرَارُهَا .
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ولی کا ثیبہ عورت پر کچھ اختیار نہیں، اور یتیم لڑکی سے پوچھا جائے گا اس کی خاموشی ہی اس کا اقرار ہے ۔
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: A guardian has no concern with a woman previously married and has no husband, and an orphan girl (i. e. virgin) must be consulted, her silence being her acceptance.

Alqamah said “I was going with Abd Allaah bin Masud at Mina where Uthman met him and desired to have a talk with him in privacy”. When Abd Allaah (bin Masud) thought there was no need of privacy, he said to me “Come, Alqamah So I came (to him)”.
