حَدَّثَنَا شَاذُّ بْنُ فَيَّاضٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ /a>، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْتَظِرُونَ الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ حَتَّى تَخْفِقَ رُءُوسُهُمْ ثُمَّ يُصَلُّونَ وَلَا يَتَوَضَّئُونَ ، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد: زَادَ فِيهِ شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: كُنَّا نَخْفِقُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَرَوَاهُ ابْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، بِلَفْظٍ آخَرَ.
انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے اصحاب عشاء کی نماز کا انتظار کرتے تھے، یہاں تک کہ ان کے سر ( نیند کے غلبہ سے ) جھک جھک جاتے تھے، پھر وہ نماز ادا کرتے اور ( دوبارہ ) وضو نہیں کرتے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اس میں شعبہ نے قتادہ سے یہ اضافہ کیا ہے کہ: ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانے میں نماز کے انتظار میں بیٹھے بیٹھے نیند کے غلبہ کی وجہ سے جھک جھک جاتے تھے، اور اسے ابن ابی عروبہ نے قتادہ سے دوسرے الفاظ میں روایت کیا ہے۔
Narrated Anas: The Companions during the lifetime of the messenger of Allah used to wait for the night prayer so much so that their heads were lowered down (by dozing). Then they offered prayer and did not perform ablution. Abu Dawud said: Shubah on the authority of Qatadah added: We lowered down our heads (on accounts of dozing) in the day of the Messenger of Allah . Abu Dawud said; This tradition has been transmitted through a different chain of narrators.

Abu al-Tayyah reported on the authority of a shaykh (an old man): When Abdullah ibn Abbas came to Basrah, people narrated to him traditions from Abu Musa. Therefore Ibn Abbas wrote to him asking him about certain things. In reply Abu Musa wrote to him saying: One day I was in the company of theMessenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. He wanted to urinate. Then he came to a soft ground at the foot of a wall and urinated. He (the Prophet) then said: If any of you wants to urinate, he should look for a place (like this) for his urination.
