حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ حُضَيْنِ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ أَبِي سَاسَانَ، عَنْ الْمُهَاجِرِ بْنِ قُنْفُذٍ، أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَبُولُ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ، فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى تَوَضَّأَ، ثُمَّ اعْتَذَرَ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي كَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَذْكُرَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلا عَلَى طُهْرٍ، أَوْ قَالَ: عَلَى طَهَارَةٍ .
مہاجر بن قنفذ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ وہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پیشاب کر رہے تھے تو انہوں نے آپ کو سلام کیا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سلام کا جواب نہیں دیا، یہاں تک کہ وضو کیا پھر ( سلام کا جواب دیا اور ) مجھ سے معذرت کی اور فرمایا مجھے یہ بات اچھی نہیں لگی کہ میں اللہ کا ذکر بغیر پاکی کے کروں ۔ راوی کو شک ہے «على طهر» کہا، یا «على طهارة» کہا۔
Narrated Muhajir ibn Qunfudh: Muhajir came to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم while he was urinating. He saluted him. The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم did not return the salutation to him until he performed ablution. He then apologised to him, saying: I disliked remembering Allah except in the state of purification.

Abu al-Tayyah reported on the authority of a shaykh (an old man): When Abdullah ibn Abbas came to Basrah, people narrated to him traditions from Abu Musa. Therefore Ibn Abbas wrote to him asking him about certain things. In reply Abu Musa wrote to him saying: One day I was in the company of theMessenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. He wanted to urinate. Then he came to a soft ground at the foot of a wall and urinated. He (the Prophet) then said: If any of you wants to urinate, he should look for a place (like this) for his urination.

Anas bin Malik reported: When the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم entered the toilet, he used to say (before entering): O Allaah, I seek refuge in Thee. This is according to the version of Hammad. Abd al-Warith has another version: I seek refuge in Allaah from male and female devils.
