قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَنَا يَا عَمِّ لَوْ أَنَّكَ أَخَذْتَ بُرْدَةَ غُلَامِكَ وَأَعْطَيْتَهُ مَعَافِرِيَّكَ وَأَخَذْتَ مَعَافِرِيَّهُ وَأَعْطَيْتَهُ بُرْدَتَكَ فَكَانَتْ عَلَيْكَ حُلَّةٌ وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسِي وَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ فِيهِ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي بَصَرُ عَيْنَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ وَسَمْعُ أُذُنَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِي هَذَا وَأَشَارَ إِلَى مَنَاطِ قَلْبِهِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ أَطْعِمُوهُمْ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ وَأَلْبِسُوهُمْ مِمَّا تَلْبَسُونَ وَكَانَ أَنْ أَعْطَيْتُهُ مِنْ مَتَاعِ الدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنَ عَلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ مِنْ حَسَنَاتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
( عبادہ بن ولید نے ) کہا : میں نے ان سے کہا : چچاجان!اگر آپ اپنے غلام کی دھاری دار چادر لے لیتے اور اسے اپنا معافری کپڑا دے دیتے یا اس سے اس کا معافری کپڑا لے لیتے اور اسے اپنی دھاری دار چادر دے دیتے تو آپ کے جسم پر ایک جوڑا ہوتا اور اس کے جسم پر بھی ایک جوڑا ہوتا ۔ انھوں نے میرے سر پر ہاتھ پھیرا اور کہا : اے اللہ! اس کو برکت عطا فرما ۔ بھتیجے!رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو میری آنکھوں کی بصارت ( نے دیکھا ) اور میرے دو کانوں نے سنا اور ۔ دل کے مقام کی طرف اشارہ کرتے ہوئے کہا میرے دل نے اسے یاد رکھا ، جبکہ آپ فرمارہے تھے ۔ " ان ( غلاموں ) کو اسی میں سے کھلاؤ جو تم کھاتے ہواور اسی میں سے پہناؤ جو تم پہنتے ہو ۔ " اگرمیں نے اسے دنیا کی نعمتوں میں سے ( اس کا حصہ ) دے دیاہے تو یہ میرے لیے اس سے زیادہ آسان ہے کہ وہ قیامت کے روز میری نیکیاں لے جاتا ۔
I said to him: My uncle, if you get the cloak of your servant and you give him your two clothes, or take his two clothes of Ma'afir and give him your cloak, then there would be one dress for you and one for him. He wiped my head and said: O Allah, bless the son of my brother. O, son of my brother, these two very eyes of mine saw and these two ears of mine listened to and this heart of mine retained this, and he pointed towards the heart that Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: Feed them (the servants) and clothe them (the servants) what you wear, and if I give him the goods of the world, it is easy for me than this that he should take my virtues on the Day of Resurrection.

Jabir b. Abdullah reported that Allah's Apostle ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) happened to walk through the bazar coming from the side of 'Aliya and the people were on both his sides. There he found a dead lamb with very short ears. He took hold of his ear and said: Who amongst you would like to have this for a dirham? They said: We do not like to have it even for less than that as it is of no use to us. He said: Do you wish to have it (free of any cost)? They said: By Allah, even if it were alive (we would not have liked to possess that), for there is defect in it as its ear is very short; now it is dead also. Thereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: By Allah, this world is more insignificant in the eye of Allah than it (this dead lamb) is in your eye.
