وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، ح، وَحَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي رَيْحَانَةَ، عَنْ سَفِينَةَ - قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ: «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْتَسِلُ بِالصَّاعِ وَيَتَطَهَّرُ بِالْمُدِّ» وَفِي حَدِيثِ ابْنِ حُجْرٍ، أَوْ قَالَ: وَيُطَهِّرُهُ الْمُدُّ، وَقَالَ: وَقَدْ كَانَ كَبِرَ وَمَا كُنْتُ أَثِقُ بِحَدِيثِهِ
ابو بکر بن ابی شیبہ اورعلی بن حجر نے اسماعیل بن علیہ سے ، انہوں نے ابو ریحانہ سے ، انہوں نےحضرت سفینہؓ سے ( ابو بکر نےکہا : ) رسول اللہ ﷺ کے صحابی ( حضرت سفینہ رضی اللہ عنہ ) سے روایت کی ، انہوں نےکہا : رسول اللہ ﷺ ایک صاع پانی سے غسل فرماتے اور ایک مد پانی سے وضو فرمالیتے ۔ ( علی ) ابن حجر کی روایت میں ہے کہ یا ( ابو ریحانہ نے ایک مد سے وضو فرما لیتے تھے کے بجائے ) ’’ایک مدپانی سے آپ کا وضو ہو جاتاتھا ‘ ‘ کہا ۔ ابو ریحانہ نے کہا : سفینہ رضی اللہ عنہ عمر رسیدہ ہو گئے تھے ، اس لیے مجھے ان کی حدیث پر اعتماد و وثوق نہیں ہے ۔
Safina reported that Abu Bakr, the Companion of the Messenger of Allah (way peace be upon him), observed: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) took a bath with one Sa' of water and performed ablution with one Mudd (of water) ; and in the hadith narrated by Ibn Hujr the words are: One Mudd sufficed for his (Holy Prophet's) ablution. And Ibn Hujr said that (his Shaikh) Isma'il was much advanced in age, and it was because of this that he could not fully rely on him for this tradition.

A'isha reported: When anyone amongst us was menstruating the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) asked her to tie waist-wrapper daring the time when the menstrual blood profusely flowed and then embraced her; and she ('A'isha) observed: And who amongst you can have control over his desires as the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) had over his desires.
