حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ قَعْنَبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ: حَمَلْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ عَتِيقٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، فَأَضَاعَهُ صَاحِبُهُ، فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ بَائِعُهُ بِرُخْصٍ، فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: «لَا تَبْتَعْهُ، وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ، فَإِنَّ الْعَائِدَ فِي صَدَقَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ
عبداللہ بن مسلمہ بن قعنب نے ہمیں حدیث بیان کی : ہمیں مالک بن انس نے زید بن اسلم سے حدیث بیان کی ، انہوں نے اپنے والد سے روایت کی کہ حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا : میں نے اللہ کی راہ میں ( جہاد کرنے کے لیے کسی کو ) ایک عمدہ گھوڑے پر سوار کیا ( اسے دے دیا ) تو اس کے ( نئے ) مالک نے اسے ضائع کر دیا ( اس کی ٹھیک طرح سے خبر گیری نہ کی ) ، میں نے خیال کیا کہ وہ اسے کم قیمت پر فروخت کر دے گا ، چنانچہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس کے بارے میں پوچھا تو آپ نے فرمایا : اسے مت خریدو اور نہ اپنا ( دیا ہوا ) صدقہ واپس لو کیونکہ صدقہ واپس لینے والا ایسے کتے کی طرح ہے جو قے ( چاٹنے کے لیے ) اس کی طرف لوٹتا ہے
Umar b. Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) reported: I donated a pedigree horse in the path of Allah. Its possessor made it languish. I thought that he would sell it at a cheap price. I asked Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) about it, whereupon he said: Don't buy it and do not get back your charity, for one who gets back the charity is like a dog who swallows its vomit.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported: I fell sick and there came to me on foot Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and Abu Bakr for inquiring after my health. I fainted. He (the Holy Prophet) performed ablution and then sprinkled over me the water of his ablution. I felt some relief and said: Allah's Messenger, how should I decide about my property? He said nothing to me in response until this verse pertaining to the law of inheritance was revealed: They ask you for a decision; say: Allah gives you a decision concerning the person who has neither parents nor children (iv. 177).
