حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، خَطَبَ يَوْمَ جُمُعَةٍ، فَذَكَرَ نَبِيَّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَذَكَرَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنِّي لَا أَدَعُ بَعْدِي شَيْئًا أَهَمَّ عِنْدِي مِنَ الْكَلَالَةِ، مَا رَاجَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي شَيْءٍ مَا رَاجَعْتُهُ فِي الْكَلَالَةِ، وَمَا أَغْلَظَ لِي فِي شَيْءٍ مَا أَغْلَظَ لِي فِيهِ، حَتَّى طَعَنَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ فِي صَدْرِي، وَقَالَ: «يَا عُمَرُ، أَلَا تَكْفِيكَ آيَةُ الصَّيْفِ الَّتِي فِي آخِرِ سُورَةِ النِّسَاءِ، وَإِنِّي إِنْ أَعِشْ أَقْضِ فِيهَا بِقَضِيَّةٍ يَقْضِي بِهَا مَنْ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ، وَمَنْ لَا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ»،
ہشام نے ہمیں حدیث بیان کی : ہمیں قتادہ نے سالم بن ابی جعد سے حدیث بیان کی ، انہوں نے معدان بن ابی طلحہ سے روایت کی کہ حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے جمعہ کے دن خطبہ دیا ، انہوں نے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا تذکرہ کیا اور حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کا تذکرہ کیا ، پھر کہا : میں اپنے بعد کوئی ایسی چیز نہیں چھوڑ رہا جو میرے ہاں کلالہ سے زیادہ اہم ہو ، میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کسی چیز کے بارے میں اتنی مراجعت نہیں کی جتنی کلالہ کے بارے میں کی ، اور آپ نے بھی مجھ سے کسی چیز کے بارے میں اتنی شدت اختیار نہیں فرمائی جتنی کلالہ کے بارے میں فرمائی حتی کہ آپ نے اپنی انگلی میرے سینے میں چبھوئی اور فرمایا : " اے عمر! تمہیں موسم گرما ( میں نازل ہونے ) والی آیت کافی نہیں جو سورہ نساء کے آخر میں ہے؟ ( جس سے مسئلہ واضح ہو گیا ہے ) " اور میں ( عمر ) اگر زندہ رہا تو اس کے بارے میں ایسا واضح فیصلہ کروں گا جس ( کو دیکھتے ہوئے ) ایسا شخص ( بھی ) فیصلہ کر سکے گا جو قرآن پڑھتا ( اور سمجھتا ) ہے اور وہ بھی جو قرآن نہیں پڑھتا ۔
Abu Talha reported: 'Umar b. al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon on Friday and made a mention of Allah's Apostle ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and he also made a mention of Abu Bakr (Allah be pleased with him) and then said: I do not leave behind me any problem more difficult than that of Kalala. I did not refer to Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) more repeatedly than in case of the problem of Kalala, and he (the Holy Prophet) never showed more annoyance to me than in regard to this problem, so much so that he struck my chest with his fingers and said: 'Umar, does the verse revealed in summer season, at the end of Sura al-Nisa' not suffice you? Hadrat 'Umar (then) said: If I live I would give such verdict about (Kalala) that everyone would be able to decide whether he reads the Qur'an or he does not.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported: I fell sick and there came to me on foot Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and Abu Bakr for inquiring after my health. I fainted. He (the Holy Prophet) performed ablution and then sprinkled over me the water of his ablution. I felt some relief and said: Allah's Messenger, how should I decide about my property? He said nothing to me in response until this verse pertaining to the law of inheritance was revealed: They ask you for a decision; say: Allah gives you a decision concerning the person who has neither parents nor children (iv. 177).
